We had the heating on last night ... well, it helped to dry the washing
BL have a lovely holiday
Tootles - lots of luck, may the judges love your jam!
Pat - I just love Pavarottis's voice - glad you enjoyed the concert
Lily, this weather is only a blip - we're going to have an Indian Summer for ten days, starting around the 16th September - Verdun has arranged it for us
DavidK - hope your daughter has a lovely holiday - Ive been to Carcassone (a very long time ago ) there was an amazing fireworks display while we were there - spectacular.
I watched GW then fell asleep during Extra Slice - quite late for me really
Our tree man phoned back last night - he'll come and look at the poorly ash tree and give us an estimate next Saturday morning.
Today, when it stops raining, I shall remove more leaves from the toms and pick more tomatoes, runner beans and raspberries, and travel south to visit Ma. .......

Hosta re the quotes thing - after you've put the quote in the message box check and see where the flashing cursor is before you start typing. It should be at the left hand edge of the message box - if it's aligned with the edge of the quote you need to move it. But don't worry, if you can't get the hang of it I'll show you when we meet up .... are you using a laptop or tablet?

Morning all! (evening Pat!). No reason to be up this morning - snoodlet and OH away. Still got up at 6 am. I've turned into my parents.... Transformation complete.
Good morning Snoodle Can you confirm for me that the weather here in Norfolk was really quite pleasant an hour ago before the heavens opened again ........ or was I hallucinating I even told OH it was quite a lovely morning out there in the garden - he now thinks I'm bonkers

I agree Dove. I had breakfast in the conservatory looking at the garden, and wondered if today would be the day that the couple of bits of washing on the line that have been there since midweek would finally dry and be brought in.
Thank goodness for that - I thought I'd been imagining things ... we put the heating on last night and dried the washing on rail by the radiator in the study

I refuse to put the heating on until quite late in the year. Not sure why! My lounge blanket came out of hiberation though. See, blanket on lap - definitely getting old....
So do I, usually - but we don't have a tumble dryer and there was, for some reason, an inordinate amount of OH's thick sweatshirts and thick socks to get dry, so I weakened. Don't worry, it's been turned off again now
OH has just put his waterproof leggings on to cycle to work - that's the first time since last winter ..
