Firstly may I say Runny, I think you and your family are handling this horrific situation amazingly well. I wish your son comfort and relief and his family strength, everyone must be in shock

Now I am disappointed. I really thought you'd show how they attached to both your knees.
Hello SGLily. Hope you get a good sleep tonight. I thought of you when I snuggled down with my lavender pillow last night. Don't remember much else until HRH got Hubby out for a morning twinkle. Somehow, I just couldn't wake enough to let her out so Hubby obliged.
Eewww! At least they look soft and comfortable, but what is it with you all having bad knees? Is it caused by cold weather? And Lily Pilly, you back sounds horrendous! I hope the injection has given you a bit of relief.
My sister has had both hips replaced and one knee. I always assumed it was because she had worn out her joints with walking her big Labradors all the time, but now I wonder if it is just part of getting older. I'm almost afraid to think about having to get to that stage. She said she can't kneel since the knee replacement and one day in her garden she had to crawl to a fence to get up.
Mine are caused by hillwalking Pat. Many walkers have knee problems. I had to stop several years ago because of it (patella femoral pain) and the only 'cure' is physio to increase the muscle strength round the kneecap. The braces do the supporting - well the little gel doughnut round the kneecap does - and allow me to carry on doing it. Without them, I can get uphill, but I can't get down!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Aha. Thanks for that info. I've been wondering. I remember how hard the downhill part was. I must admit that at one time I wondered if it was diet related. Before I found out that I couldn't tolerate MSG, I used to get a lot of joint pain, but since changing my diet, I don't get any (touch wood, as they say). Since we now live on the side of a hill, my biggest problem is getting enough breath to get up the hill rather than going down.

You might think I'm Ernie Wise - the one with the short, fat hairy legs
