Re the concern expressed about the tragic refugee situation - I've just had a phone call from my son - he and a girlfriend are borrowing a van from work and filling it with blankets, nappies and dried foods and taking it all to Calais - he's been in touch with the charities working there and that's what they say they need - blankets in particular because the weather is getting colder.
He says he can't afford to help in any other way, but he can organise and he can drive. He's using Facebook etc, as well as connections of his church, to get stuff. I've said I'll make a donation to help pay for the diesel for the van or whatever else they need.
I'm sure there's people all over the country doing exactly the same.
His dad did the same some 25 years ago - only then it was Albania that needed the help.

Hats off to your son Dove. He's doing a really good thing, especially by finding out what is needed via the charities. Very good luck to him and I hope it makes a difference to some desperate people.
Fantastic Dove. I saw a woman being interviewed the other night in Austria when there was that situation with dead people in lorries. She was helping provide food etc to the survivors. She got quite emotional about it and simply said that she had also been a refugee when she was young and others had helped her. Practical help is what's needed more than anything else right now.
'Lest we forget' eh?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
'This Morning' today did a piece on the charity and what was needed and what wasn't. They said facebook and other medias would be continually updating lists of needed items. They didn't want too much of the same thing except blankets and sleeping bags. Didn't want womens clothes only childrens and mens.

Very kind of your son Dove. x
How lovely of your son, Dove. We are so lucky to live in Europe.
May not have time to write again before we go. Depends on Wifi and OH's ipad when we are away. Been a busy day.
