Good evening and hello all from your long lost friend DD. image

Won't even begin to describe my week - think I blew it when I said it was getting back to normal. image

Anyway, all over now, did nearly lose the plot on Sunday (2nd Open Garden Day, fully booked B&B and 8 for dinner, a French contingency arrived at 17:30 wanting a full blown tour of the garden and to find out my life story and I was desperately waiting for the sheets and towels to dry so I could iron them and get them on the beds. Got thru it , not sure how -  red wine and smiles mostly. image

Anyway, it is now Thursday, 22:30 French time, house is clean, ironing all done, not a dirty item in the washing basket to be seen. fridge stocked up, garden watered (sort of - some areas will just have to fend for themselves) and I have a glass of wine in hand and I am actually sitting down. image

I do hope you are all well and good and I hope I haven't missed any exciting news. I have looked at the B&B diary and it scares me but at least now I am not committed to a week long English course or a National Open Garden Day or any other silly ideas I get myself wrapped up in. Am helping on a crepe stall at some point in August ( we only sell about 800 they told me after I agreed) but other than that all calm - famous last words. image

I hope to post some pics soon of various plants emerging which I know I didn't plant. Also, am feeling very smug about some gladioli I planted and hope to post a pic of those little darlings, but they may well be blown over by the time I get around to it. Take my word for it though, today they looked magnificent. Have decided I am a gladioli, dahlia and lily fan, although my roses are rather gorgeous too at the moment. image

O.K. good night, I do hope to catch up with you all soon, really hoping for 8 hours sleep tonight rather than the 5 or 6 I have been managing. Whose silly idea was it to open a B&B - ooh yes, mine.  image

Evening all, Sorry to hear about your problems Wonky, at least it's over now, so good luck with finding a new job.

Dentist wasn't too bad today, 1 filling replaced and a clean and polish.  Now have to decide what I'm going to do about implants etc, I'll think about it over the holiday.

More tidying in the garden today and lots of cleaning in the house.

Did you kick your fiance into  submission, Clari?

Looked after OH's two little grandchildren this afternoon, while OH's daughter and her OH prepared their camper van for their holiday. We went to a GC where there was a little train to take you around a garden and we had ice creams in the café. There were toys for children in a corner of the café and we looked at the rabbits and guinea pigs. When we left a clematis followed me into the car, Betty Corning, very perfumed. I saw one, or rather, smelt it, at the ngs garden we saw yesterday.

Then we went out for a meal with my sister, her OH and daughter this evening.

I hope you get a chance to relax one day DD.

Good morning all image  ((Hugs)) for all, whether you need them or not, and a few extra for Clari and DD (and anyone I've missed who needs extra).  image

Lots of crashing, banging and flashing lights in the night, and the garden's had a watering image

Now we have hazy sunshine, the robin is tucking into mealworms on the terrace, the goldfinches are singing like it's going out of fashion, and the woodpigeons are cooing inanely image

Good morning, no rain in Newcastle but the wind is getting up, the morning chorus has been and gone so it's time for one last coffee before I go to work, enjoy the garden anyone who can

No rain here. All I hear is planes taking off from East Midlands airport. They seem to have changed the takeoff direction this morning.

Nut, i have foxgloves flowering in a seed tray. They didn't even get pricked out last year.

This years seedlings are ready to go in final position. I might need a crowbar though, the ground is like concrete under the oak.

    Time for coffeeimage

Fidget, I've got a good crop of foxgloves popped up in the veg patch, courtesy of the home-made compost spread on there in the spring - I'm going to move them over to the Wilderness before the purple sprouting brocc is planted out.

    Help yourself ...
