We cooked and ate outside again this evening - it's still 27C and very sticky - the highest it reached in the coolest shadiest bit of our back garden was 34.5C
Today and tomorrow are the Royal Norfolk Show days - I imagine the St John's Ambulance people will have been busy there today. We sometimes go but I'm glad we didn't have tickets this year - I'd have melted!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thunder this afternoon, and a few spots, but it passed over.
33 degrees when I came out of work. I thought it was hot inside the old stone building, but worse outside.I dont think the air con in the car is working. I went and loitered near the freezers in Morrisons for a bit.
Its still 27 c in the greenhouse, with three large roof vents and double doors wide open. Far too sticky, I cant see us sleeping much tonight.
My poor OH. He is recovering from CFS and runs hotter than me anyway but with that condition he has great difficulty with this heat, it makes him really unwell, right now all the windows are open and there are two fans in the bedroom at full blast.
I did lots of watering tonight, ground is so dry and I moved so many things this year
Yes Winter. It took me a while to realise I could get to the end by pressing 'last unread post'.
After all the digging today I went to bed really early but am up now as we're having a humdinger of a thunderstorm and I felt sorry for the dog. I left pots of plants on the soil in position for planting so I hope they haven't all fallen over in the mud.
Fidget made me smile with the loitering round the freezers in SM. That Idea crossed my mind too. SYL at a more decent hour.
i always find getting to the end of this thread a bit tricky when its on a page that ends in an "0". But it never comes to an end, just requires a bit of ingenuity
Rain still forecast for later, but I am office bound today. The garden could certainly do with it. Not sure how all you people that move plants around lots cope in the summer - the 3 i have moved this year looked very sad by yesterday evening (although have perked up after the bucket of water last night). Do you have to water lots?

Lovely morning then it clouded over and we've had torrential downpours this afternoon.
Didn't mind, good for the garden and the cooler temperatures allowed me to work in the hot tunnel .
Off for a well earned bath shortly.
Nighty night.
Simply too hot here today, ended up staying in the cool and sorting out paperwork. Have been out and watered the garden tonight.
Dentist appointment tonight not looking forward to it at all.
No rain, it did threaten but passed over without a drop.

Phewwww still hot here.
Has this thread reached its end?
Only joking although my refreshing no longer shows latest post and the arrow to go forward a page is greyed out
is this happening for anyone else?
Talking of Salvias Verdun, I'm after Lycioides but no one stocks it
even mail order seems fruitless. I already have one plant and I want so many more
