Dove, I'm glad Ma was happy. Pimms blackberry and elderflower sounds yummy. Must look out for it when we go to England next week. I must send you an email soon about Suffolk.
It's horribly hot here, 34° still, 8.05pm. I thought de-frosting the big freezer would be a cool thing to do, but it involved boiling pans of water to help it along. Hot kitchen. Then I thought I fancied some courgette and mint soup, nice cold like vichyssoise, but that involved a large boiling pan too. Have a glut of courgettes.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Have done my civic duty and been helping out at Rainbows again. We were making kites, which all flew very well
Following on from the conversations earlier about noisy children, I'd like to add the older youths who insist on haring up and down my road on mini motor bikes/quad bikes They are very noisy and are going non stop up and down the road while their mates look on. Please stop..... it's very hot here and I have the windows open
Lovely to hear about the hedgehog - yes, put water out - ours drink lots every night
Lesley and everyone - thanks for kind thoughts about Ma - it is lovely to see her happy when it could have been so different.
Gardengirl - we use Blagdon Barley Straw Extract, and follow it up with Blagdon Bio-Active Sludge Control, which eats the dead blanket weed. Regular treatment is working well and it's also keeping the duckweed to a minimum It doesn't affect the wildlife, the water is lovely and clear and it's simple to use once you've worked out how many litres of water there are in the pond
29.7C earlier in the shady breezy corner of the garden by the path around the side of the house.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Have put some out fidget, hoping to see more of Harry. Had put a pile of twigs by the bottom of the hedge last Autumn in hope of getting a hegdehog friend
we were once in Gatwick airport and a rather vile family were laughing hysterically at the antics of a small boy in their company who was screaming through the railing at people below.
As we passed, they looked over and said " isn't he just so funny? " I replied, and pardon me in advance......
" No he's not, he's behaving like a f***ing chav" and walked off.
