Just spoke to my friend who has voted for the first time in yonks as has her husband and son....I've been nagging them all
She told me that the polling station has been very busy all day! We live in a low rent deprived area of Ipswich and it would appear the troops have finnaly mobilized!
One great thing is there has never been so little politics on the news! They would have to be impartial and I don't think the BBC trust themselves with such a responsibility!
Evening all. Been and voted, cooked (and scoffed) rhubarb crumble with some fresh rhubarb out of the garden.
Trying to have a quiet evening as tomorrow sees a scout troop descending on the museum for an overnight camp. Managed to pot up one hanging basket with some strawberries in: I've decided while hanging baskets require extra attention it should reduce the slugs and dog eating all the produce!
Clari what a great place for the scouts to have an overnight camp. I know it's work for you but they'll have fun.
Edd I haven't seen Bill around for quite a while. Hope he's OK.
A few people have been dodging showers today but apart from a couple of drops it has been quite nice, though with a chilly breeze. Got most of my slabs where I want them but need to get some cement to finish off. Then I may get back to proper gardening.
Hope your clematis pulls through Winter.
My elder son, who has learning difficulties, went to vote by himself this afternoon and came back and told me he voted for the one who gave him a balloon In the town.
Have a good walk tomorrow Fairy
I am taking my aching bones off to bed. See you tomorrow.
My day didn't go as planned but actually turned out better for it.
Charlie (still on school hols) wanted to go for a walk with Shadow, 'an adventure' he called it so we set off on a nice woodland walk near where Charlie goes horseriding. We took a picnic and had a super time, Charlie and Shadow exploring every nook and cranny (no sheep for miles - phew). A walk that normally takes me 50 minutes lasted 2 hours so afterwards I felt we deserved a cake so went to my favourite cafe, appropriately named Cafe Kitch, run by an very friendly English lady with huge choice of homemade cakes, Carrot Cake for me today.
Then on way back to the car we noticed the chateau gates were open so had a lovely walk around there, lots of hidey holes and great views across the valley and a 'secret' (according to Charlie) cave to explore. Finally as we got close to the car park we spotted a game of pétanque in progress and Charlie got totally enthralled in it. The chaps playing were very kind and indulged him, explaining the rules, chatting away to him like a VIP and even offering us drinks, so friendly and so kind.
Finally, when we got back home Charlie & Shadow cuddled up on the floor watching TV and I managed to get all my plants in. It was nearly dark as I finished but what a lovely day.
Rhubarb crumble on the menu here tomorrow too Clari, can't wait.
LilyP glad all landed safely - and together.
Hosta, glad your knee is ok, steady away.
WS, hope your clematis survives and you too, have a bit of a rest too.
Fidget, hope you feel better after you hot soak, dodging showers all day not good.
SGL, as you can see from above my son has me around his little finger too, he has also got me sleeping on the top bunk of his bed tonight (pinkie promise) because he wants to be near me whilst he sleeps and can talk to me when he wakes up in the morning - a special holiday treat. And of course I agreed to it.

Went to vote early, before "playing" in the park. (Well, actually doing more sapling removal, then a bit of archaeology on a 17th century farmhouse site. All good fun, and the historical bit was fascinating; we unearthed a sloping cobbled farmyard that nobody knew was there. )
Then a sunny afternoon in the garden, weeding, thinning veg, repotting mint, enjoying the weather, looking at the view...
Glad you've had good news at last, LilyP. Hope the family are soon settled.
Fidget, you can't beat a simple wedding. Your plans sound wonderful!
Well, I'm off to bed. The election result will still be there in the morning, whether I like it or not...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Sounds like you had a wonderful ' adventure' DD. Bet Charlie loved your day together. I can remember 'camping' in the garden too RB, as you say such happy days. Seems I was right......mums and their sons
Lily P, glad all went well for your daughter, must be a huge relief for you
I did win £30 to spend on sticky plants woo hoo! I was also invited to judge a shortbread competition on Sunday for Guides I said I could just about manage it
Clari, if I lived near you I would love to take my Guides for a sleepover in your museum
Right, am off now. OH is watching election TV all night Wonder how many times he will fall asleep . . . .

Not around much today as trying to get local supporters out to vote, driving some without transport and generally supporting the cause.
Hope it is worth it.
Off to watch the results.
