Good morning. Not terribly wet here but I think it's to come. Very dark
Matty good luck hope you get away ok
DD your sounds a very hospitable B&B , any time we have stayed in one we have smuggled our wine in
I well remember the tensions of exam time. Good luck to all
Lesley K careful with slabs, they hurt if you drop them!
Hong Kong situation appears to be stalemate. It appears the Chinese deliberately ignoring theRussians. So trying now to shift everything to Russian air line. Everyone sounds super stressed.
I plan to take mobile and stay in greenhouse all day as it's my therapy room!

A daft photo for you from the weekend. That was after day two of about 8 hours in the smoke house a day which is a large inflatable tent filled with non toxic smoke so you are completely blind and ridiculously hot (think of all that glorious sunshine heating a large black greenhouse). Unsurprisingly I'm the only one in the team who didn't get a sun tan!
Clari, I know you love your job but they need to give a girl some days off!!!
LesleyK, great chance to improve your border but only if you can still bend over! !
Overcast today and muggy, storm brewing weather
Dove, love hearing about your resident Robin, my feeders are currently feeding every neighbourhood bird although sadly no blackbirds or robins, I do have the occasional tit but mostly sparrows and starlings. Whilst pottering on the patio I filled the mealworm dish thrice and it was quickly devoured by four starlings, one of which must have a nest as he/she kept leaving with a beak stuffed with them. The mealworm I use are very much dead though and smell like chicken crisps
They tell me sparrows are in decline in some areas, well not here although sadly I found a dead chick on the stones no where near any nests, and some very eclectic nesting materials, probably raided by a magpie, we have a nearby family group and I often watch them checking out the gutter nests
Morning guys did anyone warch the Dawn Chorus last night I love the birds in our garden but if I can't see them I have difficulty identifying them from their song.
I am lucky Wintersong I have both robin and blackbirds they follow me around foraging about in any soil I've disturbed especially the Mr Blackbird. We have a family of crows in the treetops so no magpies hang about .fortunately they only come down into the garden for real when Phil the Pheasant doesn't finish his b.fast
Thought I saw a pair of greenfinches out the front but the blackbird soon sent them packing
It's stopped raining now so am off to repair the damage the wind has done to the pots.Have a good day everyone
Just been for amble around the grounds [ slight exaggeration maybe ]
Snails everywhere, warm and damp weather has brought them out. Sorry to those who disagree, but they were either squashed [ and put out for our Thrushes ], or chucked in the stream.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
i recorded dawn chorus to watch while littlies asleep, punkdoc i shall do the same as you with the snails, even my 4 year old picks them off and breaks the shells for the birds, sorry but she's seen me do it!
Light rain and mist today, heavier rain overnight. Beech trees suddenly wearing green today! Glad I got the grass cut yesterday; today will be meeting-a-friend-for-coffee morning, then visiting Halifax to buy part of OH's birthday present. (He's been addicted to Thornton's treacle toffee "since he were a lad" but the nearest shop is a train ride away.
Sounds as if your plantings will go into nice damp soil, Beaus Mum. Hope for more photos soon...
Clari, do you always draw the short straw at work? All day in a "smoke"-filled building doesn't sound like fun
LilyP, I hope you hear good news soon!
Matty & Lizzie, have a great time
Off for that coffee date...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Well if death must be involved, better that it's a quick one!
But I have a theory that it's a painless affair for slugs and snails since they bite each others bits off while having sex
