We're home from helping Ma to celebrate her birthday - she was quite jolly but a bit confused, didn't know why her husband wasn't there for her birthday, but said it didin't matter, she expected he was busy - perhaps he hadn't got her letter telling him she'd moved!!! But as I said, she was jolly, everyone was making a fuss of her, presents and cards from The Lovely Home as well as family, glasses of sherry all round and a special birthday cake in the afternoon.
We've had our supper and were joined by a friend on the terrace
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
after a hard day at the shop, and coming out to find an elderly lady who had a flat tyre, I gave her a lift home to get her hubby's AA card to call them out.
Hubby is making Jamie Oliver's pad thai for dinner. Yummity yum yum.
Mrs G that is awful. I hope your OH recovers well.
We had a funny weekend. OH fitted new autovents on the greenhouse. Thenew ones didnt fit the old holes so it took a lot longer than planned. Then we thought we would go and impart news to Mum as the Hotel is booked for the wedding.
As we were about to go out, there was a youngish girl holding up an older bloke on the wall outside. He seemed to be unable to stand , so we went out to see what was happening. He was drunk and supposedly she was helping him. I asked him where he lived and it was in the estate around the back of us. I asked him for a phone number and he got his wallet out and produced a slip of paper. I went in to google map it, and suddenly there was a commotion. She had grabbed his cash notes and legged it. He was in the middle of the main road on his back and cars screeching to a halt. We got him back on to the pavement, and eventually into the car and drove him the 800yards home. As he lived on his own, we phoned the police to let them know what happened. Told off for phoning 999. Phoned 101 and they said they would send someone round, so we left him with a glass of water and went.
Went up to mums, my sisters were there. they are distinctly underwhelmed with my ideas for a bunch of garden flowers in a vase for table decorations. Also do not like my wedding cake ideas. Also not happy I am not having all the brats as bridesmaids.
They dont have to come.
This morning the drunk has sobered up and brought me a bunch of flowers.
The police had phoned us for a description of the girl, but not been to see him. I'm glad we didn't wait for them to arrive.
OH phoned his brother, who asked why we were bothering to get married after so long. His sister is not answering the phone.
Somehow I think we would have been better off in Las Vegas with the Elvis impersonator.
My friend has found a lovely silk wedding gown, that would not suit my big bust, and has an extra nought on what I wanted to pay for a frock I will wear once.
Gretna green is where my delightful sis did the deed Fidget! Nice of the guy to bring you flowers, but like us, probably get nowhere with the police. Frustrating but real I suppose.

Maybe Gretna Green is still an option.
