Feeling much brighter today and am shortly going to garden club where the local organiser of NGS garden is giving a talk. He's supposed to be very good speaker and amusing.
Looking forward to it, first time I've been since diagnosis - tryin g to get back to normal now
Wow greenfinches, we used to have a lot but not seen any for a couple of years, haven't i seen that they are now on endangered list or something
Been to a model railway exhibition this morning (OH's hobby, but I'm going to help with the scenery). Someone had made a tiny model of a vegetable garden, behind the station master's house, which was a sight to behold - recognisable beetroot, cabbages etc, and runner beans growing up poles, all at 4mm to 1ft scale. I might have to have a go at a model garden, I think...
No gardening here because although the rain has stopped, it's cold and windy. Plus I don't want to miss the National or the Boat Race. No betting in this house, but I always choose a horse I like the look of, to follow. (Usually a pretty one! ) And always back Cambridge in the boat race, though they often seem to lose these days.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Coffee table still standing. Rb I love your enthusiasm. Lily can you do a deal with her to let you have Tom full time? Thought George Clooney would have been enough.
Well done Gg. I forgot to tell you that all your seeds have germinated and I hope they survive the temperature swings in the cold frame.
Don't Panic Folks!!! KEF's having a couple of days away visiting rellies
Hope everyone's survived today's set of frustrations
We escaped from the GC with a bag of ericaceous compost, a tray of violas, a bag of gladioli corms (her Grandpa's favourites ), a pot of chives and some little snippers for dead-heading - not bad going really I loaded the boot with a pot of divided deep pink Japanese anemones, pots of Cyclamen hederifolium, a thriving honeysuckle cutting and a potted deep red paeony that I bought for wuppence from Wilko's last year and grew on for her. That lot will keep her busy She's been busy laying a new path of old recycled bricks (she managed to squash her thumb joint at the same time) - her garden's right in the middle of the town and it's lovely and full of birds - even blackcaps and bullfinches
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Sounds like you had a great time Dove - so glad she has caught the gardening bug....no looking back now
Mr Chicky and I went GC visiting together this afters. He is a very bad influence on me. He bullied me into buying some more pulsatillas, a tree peony (which he is going to look after, as my current ones -freebies from mags- are alive but not flourishing), a potentilla, an iris and some aubretia. I must take him with me more often
Didn't watch any of the sport today not a real fan, spent most of the day in the garden, got rid of a few weeds and planted my new rose 'For Your Eyes Only' it looks a bit better now it's in the ground.
Secondborn has arrived home safely after her trip to California, I dare say I'll have loads of photos to view when I see her tomorrow. Sounds as though she had an exciting time including night trip to Alcatraz and sleeping under Canvas in Yosemete Park, including bears and snakes Yuk.
Last day of peace and quiet tomorrow as back on Nanna duty Monday.
