Matty, hugs to you and your lovely lovely OH who spoils you for ALL the right reasons.
I took a break from the forum so I'm not privy to the details of your illness but I understand it to be something that has a serious impact on the quality of your daily life and whilst I'm not all that good at expressing sincerity (because how can you ever hope to cure someone's grief?), I know that its necessary to find pleasure in the day when we are feeling unwell. You go girl, you enjoy your garden because it heals the soul and you will be all the stronger for it
Pdoc, I checked your plant combos and I think they are superb. I wish I could dream up the same kind of combinations but sadly I don't which is why I spent all day changing things My only excuse is that two thirds of my garden is new so the changes are due to its development.
It's been a wonderful day here, the best this week and the only day this week that I've spent the whole day in the garden.
Bathed and a little tipsy I'm nearly done with my merry-go-round plant swapping, I can't wait for the season to progress and all my new ideas and new plants to come to life Every day life appears, in leaf and breaking bud, in the emergence of flower and insects buzzing...
Have dinner out tonight as my sister has made the long journey from Manchester to us for the weekend (well, Ma and Pa's). Tomorrow we are off to the Big Smoke to see Cats
My chilies are all now at about 3 pairs of true leaves. When do I take them from the heated bench? Is it still too cold at night to have them in an unheated, but frost free ( at this time of year ) tunnel?
ooh saw cats in Edinburgh a while ago now - we were up in circle, those in stalls would n't see the light changes on the stage adding to the atmosphere - Oh Sorry , perhaps shouldn't have said that - loved it though
Need a Fuchsia Ricatoni as well, will fill in a gap in the front agrden and was in the original planting plan but would prefer a mature plant.
I can never see plant blends either, very envious of those that can visualize the whole picture. That's why my curved fairy garden is still such a mess and very gappy
Matty, hoping all is well again soon. I can visualize the garden plan ok, it's the reality that 's the problem.
Have a lovely week-end Panda, what a treat, years since I saw Cats but it was extremely good. Enjoy.
So wish I could afford the time and money to pop over to Dove's for a haircut and sleepover - Dove's cooking always sounds so good - one day maybe. Certainly sounds more enticing that a trip to Cornwall with their dodgy underwear habits.
Been in the garden all day, first chance for a few days with guests coming and going and all having dinner. Unfortunately spotted the first Lily Beetles, crushed them but not impressed, noticed Yvie had spotted them too, anyone got a magic cure for them?
Garden is bursting into life, such a pleasure to be out there, can sort of see things growing they are moving that fast.
Today is the first anniversary of our arrival here in France, all a bit of a blur until about May and also the house was empty from January until April and the garden had gone a bit wild so we missed an awful lot. The spring bulbs have been lovely, so many tulips and all the daffs seem to be extraordinary. Flowering shrubs that were hidden behind bracken are looking super now, two gorgeous Magnolia in full view now as well as so many more. Nicest thing is that I feel a little bit in control (just a bit) and have a greenhouse full of seedlings and a plan in my head. Really, really can't wait for the summer.
Some pics below of the garden this morning on our 1st anniversary, looking forward to many more and ever more improvements. Good evening all, need to lie down now and de-kink my poor back.

Its looking wonderful DD - such a pretty setting Happy house anniversary
Matty, hope you are soon on the mend - remember these things take time. You have been doing so well, that i 'm sure this setback will soon be behind you.
looking forward to GW, gogglebox, a bit of golf (not normally a big fan, but the Masters always catches my imagination) and ...the weekend
Just popping in to say I've had a lovely day with daughter - she's still here, we've had supper, a couple of glasses of wine and now we're watching GW. Have a lovely evening folks - see you tomorrow!
