We've been out in the garden - OH has turned the full compost heap into the empty one and incorporated some bags of semi-leafmould. He's also dug the empty bit of the veg patch and removed lots of unwanted raspberry runners. Love the raspberries but they're very invasive in a smallish garden.
I've cut back a huge sage bush and started on tidying the rest of the herb bed. I've also accidentally dug up one of my Sum & Substance hostas and had to replant it quickly. I was looking for a place to plant another shade-lover and saw a bare patch of soil
It's been lovely out there - we were joined by a robin who loved the worms OH was turning up, and we had to keep backing off from the compost bins as they're close to the bluetit box and the bluetits are busy constructing a nest in there.
Now the cloud and damp is rolling back in and it's turning chilly again.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
At last I haven veg patch ready to sow and I've even made by bean frame....yippee I had this 'weed' growing, very easy to pull up but a lot of it with pretty purple flowers, no idea what it is but has made the soil lovely and there are loads of work now too, more than last year
Now I need to sort a raised bed for my strawberries and I think my gooseberries may have some flower buds, fingers crossed
Can you get a baby sitter for a man and a dog? Honestly every time i start to do something one of them needs attention.....aggghhh, ive only managed to move a few logs and chop up some branches.
Was your weed phacelia OL? Is it a bit prickly but with a kind of curled up flower spike? Sounds like your garden is coming on a treat
Bekkie - let me know if you find such a service. I had to go with him to watch his lordship wire a few electrical bits in the caravan (well he was using my truck and my generator I suppose) now I'm sat in the bedroom waiting for his feet to come through the roof as he's making the loft space usable.
I'm now trying to work out how hard back I can prune a pear tree that's in the garden. It's well established (the previous occupants informed us they had planted it 20 years ago, mind you they said they got a good crop of apples from it too) But in need of tidying up as the latest plan if to have the chicken run underneath it.
I hope you're all enjoying this glorious sunshine: I put a lightweight vest on this morning! *gasp*
(I know we're very late in pruning but it's taken since September for me to feel well enough to even consider it: we might go for a light maintaining prune now to prevent things from worsening and harsh prune next winter.)
there ai was expecting to see my post and it's a Blob - sorry - there was an Easter picture and everything
I have no idea what happened before
Hope it's not too late
Been busy today and OH has chased me in - he thinks I've done too much.
Tidied up wind battered ramblers, cut back clematis that should have been done earlier in year, potted up christmas tree and OH has put it into its summer position, raked loads of leaves, again should have been done earlier. Still getting there now
Hope you haven't eaten too much choccy and easter egg hunts have been a success.
