Busy morning being domestic, cooking, washing, cleaning etc. And speaking to my son on the phone... he and DIL are visiting her parents tomorrow, so he was giving me a pre-Mother's Day phone call. Even married sons still love their mums...
DD, BL, Runny - thanks for good wishes re next week's Ireland visit. Am trying not to rave about it too much to OH, as he hasn't got time to go as well - but you're quite right, KEF, I am quite giddy! And Lesley - a well-timed suggestion about clothes. I have to fit everything into Ryanair's 10kg cabin baggage limit, and I was just wondering how few clothes I could get away with... perhaps I'll be able to borrow some of my daughter's. Priorities, priorities...
Lesley, is it a diamond birthday?? Congratulations!
Dove, how strange! Yesterday evening I knitted, unpicked and knitted again the neckband of the sweater I've been making for the past 6 months, from a Kaffe Fassett pattern. It's definitely the most difficult bit to get looking right. Hope you get yours sorted.
Beaus Mum, sounds as if you're having the most wonderful time in your new garden. Hope you won't be too stiff to move, tomorrow!
Right. Sun's just peeping through so I'm off out.
Bye!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Feel really cold today. Popped out and trimmed the lavender and raked up some lawn moss. But that was it really. Have put a small heater in the greenhouse it has a frost setting so I'll be making sure it works and then I'll put some of my starter plants out. It will mean I'll have more space to sow seeds? Haven't had time to read all I've missed but hope everyone is OK.
Had a do-nothing type of day, unfortunately it was self inflicted that way! Had a fabulous night out last night with OH away from stresses and smaller people and found that we do in fact still get on quite well - amazing!
Bitter cold this morning but ventured into garden in the afternoon when it had warmed up quite nicely. Got rid of a type of 'log border' so now need to even out the soil level. That's about all I could manage. I'm now back to nursing my sorry soul again. If this sun keeps popping out I may take some photos, assuming I find some energy.
Just booked a trip down to Cornwall for Spring Bank Holiday. Whole family going down to Polperro for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Really looking forward to it.
Spent a good while in the garden chopping and weeding my herbaceous border all cleared now and removing lots of nigella, corn cockle, foxgloves and honesty that has self seeded and I re potted them in to pots for now
Also managed to clear the teasel stems from my flower bed all will be going into garden waste bin
Beaus Mum Friday the Thirteenth was horse manure day for me for two months in a row if you say thirteenth in Irish it makes it sound like (poo day) same as third
