Poddington, if you are near Harrogate, get thissen up to Harlow Carr. RHS members go in free, there's a Bettys Tea room inside, and if you don't want tp pay to go in the gardens, theres a fantastic plant house/nursery sales bit attached. I've never managed to get out without a trolleyful.   The blue poppies and candelabra primulas in May are wonderful.

Fidget, I love Harlow carr. It was one of the most exciting things when my husband got the job here, that we would be so close. And I'm an rhs member so go quite often. They do great family days in the school holidays so we got at least every half term and school holiday. Betty's is just too dangerously tempting though. Can't resist a fat rascal image

Ah Lily, missed your post, hope your day is better tomorrow. Just received my Laithwaites selection so a bottle or two on the way to you.x

Fidget, youre in trouble! Making loud ooo's and ahhh's at the computer - that blinkin link you sent about daffodils indeed! It's a good job I'm on my own! I'm now fancying myself as a b****y prize daffodil grower!!! As though I haven't got enough projects! And it's all your fault!!!!!!! Just as well I've not got the wine open or I'd have spent a FORTUNE!!!!

Would I get a fat rascal for free if I entered my daffodils in a competion at Harlow Carr????

What are you allowed/not allowed, Clarington?

I can't have anything that contains:
    • Alcohol
    • Spice
    • Caffeine
    • Wheat
    • Gluten
    • Yeast
    • Dairy
    • Acidic fruits
    • Any meat that isn't chicken
    • Any fruit juices (too acidic)
    • Preservatives / additives

Basically its a very bland diet designed to give my stomach chance to rest and recover and for any toxins to get out of my system before we start to introduce foods again and see what reacts.

Quite boring but it seems to be working!

Sounds very miserable Clari, but I'm so pleased it's working for you. My niece has ceoliac (how do you spell that) and had a similar diet until she was diagnosed. I hope your problems are solved, treated and disappear.

How long have you got to be on the exclusion diet before you introduce the suspects one at a time?

The last exclusion diet I saw was similar but you were allowed pears and lamb, because apparently these don't cause allergies. Of course allergies and intolerance are not the same.

Living with someone who is severely allergic to brazil nuts is ok. I spend too long in the supermarket looking at labels, and it takes twice as long at Xmas. The only time he came a cropper was some baklava which were supposed to contain pistachios(which he can eat) but started his mouth swelling. He had an antihistamine, and I stood by with the epipen and an ambulance on speed dial.Fortunately the antihistamine kicked in fast.

Gosh Clarington, that's tough!!  We are going to cut out (down) on the carbs, no alcohol during the week and a lot less caffeine and dairy, see if that works.

I can't find the daffodil link and was looking forward to having a browse, I'm presuming you can preorder for delivery in Autumn? image
