Glasses mended, hubby has used superglue, was a bit worried in case they stuck to my face but OK so far.

Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • It looks like Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki' to me, Panda - Osmanthus have opposite leaves up the stem, whereas holly (Ilex) bears them alternately.  Your pic seems to show a variegated holly-like shrub with opposite leaves.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Osmanthus burkwoodii is rather different & grown for its scented flowers.  If they've labelled it wrongly you could take it back...

I'll have to have a think as I bought it for it's scented flowers - am trying to get more scent in the garden (sniffing smiley) image

Liri, you are spot on image And pleased to see it has scented flowers too image

  • Thanks Panda - I can go to bed with a smile, having got something right...  image  There are advantages in having worked in a garden centre!

I think if you wanted it for the scent you'd be better swapping it for O.delavayi.  Never seen a heterophyllus flower, supposed only to be "occasionally" on "mature plants"... this one is grown for its foliage really.
