Runnybeak, so sorry to read about your poor goose , they are real characters and as you say half human.we used to have them when we we r e kids .they were as you say very good guarders
One day the postie was saying how nasty they sound when they hiss, my dad with a straight face denied this , saying watch this .......picking a largish gooseberry and putting it half between his teeth bent forward to the goose .the goose very tenderly took it from his mouth .The poor postie was amazed as my dad told him if you want to get on the right side of a goose keep a bag of gooseberry in your pocket !
Next day postie asked him if he had any advice for unfriendly dogs whom he encounters in his job and do dogs like a gooseberry ?
Dad said I have as a matter of fact and it works like magic no dog will ever bite a postie kid you do this ......, keep the gooseberrys and change your job- it works every time !
Evening all, busy day, but very nice. Horseriding this morning (Charlie not me), took the opportunity to walk Shadow during the hour & half lesson, really nice spot, wished I had done it weeks ago, was a bit nervous of walking in unknown countryside, but very civilised, marked paths & no (obvious) signs of la chasse. Lovely views & sky gorgeous after all snow clouds yesterday.
Visited poor friend with broken arm this afternoon, she is ok but in some pain & finding it difficult to do stuff around the house, right arm & right handed too. She loved meeting Shadow, took Charlie too and he brought a smile to her face. Shadow, Charlie & her two dogs spent ages playing in the garden, they all came in eventually, very wet & muddy but happy. She asked me to lift a joint out of the oven she had prepared earlier for the her dinner, hoping to make it last the rest of the week, was a gorgeous smelling leg of lamnb , nearly invited myself for dinner.
Night by the fire now with a little glass of red stuff.

Off to take Flynn for last walk before bed. Stupid o'clock shift tomorrow but only the one daynot two. Will keep myself ticking over tomorrow thinking about all my lovely plants. I worry sometimes that it sounds a lot, (I have the money) but don't want peeps to think bad of me.
I have a LOT of gaps in my garden, plain fences and landscaping that still needs to be done, its all been done the wrong way round and I want a really full, healthy lush garden so, got to fill it up right?
I plan to take lots of cuttings and layering this year to add more of the same, hopefully it doesn't sound too wrong for folks on a budget.
Well, night night all. And thanks to all for no spoilers on the Allotment challenge. I haven't watched the final yet and will prolly stay away from forums until I do, just in case.
I have returned! And am getting ready for spring! Thought I'd try and do a bit of catching up on here...have read a few pages back, but you lot are all super chatty
I'd like to send my condolences to those who have lost a beloved pet (sorry cannot remember all names)...It's such a terrible time, but it can only get better from this point on

Hello Ryan, I'm a relative newcomer so may not have been around when you were last here.
Have had a fairly lazy day, although did manage to plant my new Liquid Amber tree and take a quick look at the garden and greenhouse.
