Busy all day yesterday with preparation for guests, who also decided last minute they would like dinner, no problem I said, although hardly any shops open on Sundays around here. Did manage a Boeuf Bourguignon & Tarte -Tatin & they seemed to like it. They were very nice & despite speaking no English we managed to have a nice chat over dinner, much needed practice for me.
The leftovers are also going down well for lunch although OH has now got what Charlie had. I do hope I am not next.
Very cold here, think coldest night so far last night. Sunny now, but still freezing in the shade, similar forecast for tomorrow.
BL & Beckie, best wishes for your doggies.
Clari, bet you can't wait for Reggie, Shadow's worst habit so far is taking paper tissues out of wastebins & shredding them & also he hunts down the little plastic cups used in the washing machine for holding the liquid, he sits innocently next to me whilst I am emptying it and as the cups bounces out he snatches it & whizzes away with it for a munch - I am getting wise to him now though.
Keep reading my seed packets longingly, but it's too early yet - can't wait to get them started although bit apprehensive, all new to me.

Hi GG, yeah, moon and planets from what i can gather, to be fair i dont really take any notice of how it works, i just sow/plant what it says on the correct days, worked for the allotments, i had two full size allotments for about 5 summers, until i moved in with OH, and had to get a proper job!
Glad you are managing to stay warm, its horrid to be cold x
It takes more than a sore throat to stop me yacking Lesley, even managed to shout at the dog at 3am, at that point even breathing was painful! Just going to walk old limpy who has just woken up and asked for breakfast, then off down t' shop for some honey and lemon
afternoon all -5 here . moved clay pots in to the porch . and dads old galv watering can as well ,last of the pots washed .and .. spuds shallots .and onions orderded. the pennines are are covered in a white frozen blanket. dry here and some sunshine
The gritter's just gone up the road - although the road at the bottom of the rise is a No Through Road it is a bus route so it gets gritted when the weather is bad - however not usually at this time of day - so I just checked the local forecast - wintry showers later today leading to accumulations of snow overnight
The birds are tucking into their food - I went to Homebase earlier for dust sheets and some more bird feeders, suet pellets, sunflower hearts and peanuts fell into the trolley
Sorry to hear about all the sore throats, poorly tummies and other bugs around. Much sympathy from here and I hope you get well soon, but please keep your germs to yourselves. These internet viruses are so virulent
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I love cooking Bekki, one reason for the B&B, otherwise me & OH would be even more enormous than we are already.
Wish I could say we chatted fluently, but no, bit like charades at times. I do understand loads more than when we 1st arrived (10 months now) but have to think so hard about what I want to say sometimes it hurts my head. Charlie, little so and so is completely fluent, amazing how fast kids grasp language. Unfortunately he had to go to bed before dinner so lost my little translater.
Am in the middle of a compensation claim with oil company (over delivered), not easy in a second language, so left them with our final offer and waiting for a response - who knows, perhaps Verdun, I should set you on the case.
Hope the snow stays away for you all, it is still thinking about it here.
P.S. Clari, watch out for dog rolling in duck poo - Shadow sulking after having a bath after doing just such a thing.

Stay safe and warm Lyn.
