No frost this morning, drizzling now. Too wet to garden so more decorating indoors for me today. Spring clean is finished although I have one trip to the dump this afternoon and two *shrubs* left to place in the borders from my store of homeless plants...because I still fail to buy plants I need and come home with plant that looked lovely instead .
I bought a Clematis cirrhosa *Wisley Cream* last autumn from reputable establishment and planted it at top garden for winter flowers. It's grown lovely, looks super healthy but no flowers...not even any buds formed.
as you can see, quite bright yellow, loves dry sandy soils (you all know what to do with them)
Suggestions welcome
Another thought...
I have a left-over tray of yellow Eremurus (unnamed) after dividing my two large clumps. I'd like to offer some to forum members to start their own clumps only the roots are extremely delicate and so I'm not sure about packaging through the post
If anyone can think of a cheap method of travel perhaps I can share these around?
Their weight is not so bad but you know what the post office are like, the slightest bulk adds expense
I planted a Clem. cirrhosa 'Freckles' early last summer and it's blooming beautifully - probably because it's near other clematis and they all had generous dollops of clematis fertiliser throughout the summer. They're such greedy feeders so they do need plenty of nutrition and if yours was planted in the autumn it wouldn't have had time to make the most of the good conditions I'm sure you've given it - it's obviously concentrated on growing I'm sure it'll be amazing in 12 months' time
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Wintersong, if you can keep the packet to under 8cms high, it costs 2.80 to post with the royal mail. I havent checked courier services but I think they collect it from you.
Thats a bonus if like me you live miles from the post office.
Our postman is very good, when he delivers mail he takes our post back with him.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Post service here is OK but courier is hopeless. They can never find my house even when they have written instructions. Sat Nav doesn't work but they insist on using it even when told it takes them to the wrong house. Took 3 weeks to get a package from M&S.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Does it need a year's grace to settle in?
