Hi Folks, It's so cold here and I have to go out and drive to Firstborns as it's a nanna day tomorrow, not looking forward to the trip.  Snow forecast for tonight, not sure how much.

Had my nerines from the mag delivered today. Also had some plants delivered 2 foxgloves, a lemon queen and a geum.  I'll keep them in pots on the conservatory window ledge until I can get them in the ground.

Any advice re the nerines, should I plant them in pots asap and perhaps store them in the cold greenhouse, never grown them before so not sure.

Bekkie stay away from the gee, I think it's just melted butter, anyway it's really fattening.  Re sandwiches I don't think anything comes close to butter so if I'm cutting it out I use light mayonnaise as a spread instead.  Frying I use Fry light olive oil.

  • Even im not that daft Edd! Think the posts crossed image will check out that link now, thanks for that image

I use the soya pure too Nut, am slowly getting used to it, but it aint lurpack image, i would quite happily slice lurpack on to toast (embarrased smiley), was looking at olive oil, got a bit confuddled by how many different ones there are, quite pricey too, so didnt want to get it wrong!

Yvie, are nerines the same as gurnsey liles? If they are ive got mine in well drained sunny soil, never done anything to it and it was a delight this year image, im sure you will love yours image

Yvie, its snowing here, will be with you too very soon i think!

Hi Bekkie, Yes they are the same, I was planning to put mine in pots, I thought they like their roots compacted and that they weren't really hardy.  I'd much prefer to put them in the garden.

Thanks for the update on the snow I suppose I'd better get moving and get over to Firstborn's just in case.

  • Yvie, if it helps, the bit of garden ive got mine in isnt great soil and still has a fair amount of builders rubble in, theres also a block paved path on the other side, so, yeah, they probably do like to be a little constricted, easy enough tho, just chuck some rubble in when you plant image, took a couple of years to get really nice flowers, one of those that thrive on neglect i think image

    Safe journey image
  • Love the idea of that truffle butter one Edd image
  • there is that Edd, mom uses it on the veg at crimbo, i could always "borrow" hers image

Nerines wont grow here out in the garden. They like dry, and we dont do dry in Devon! They are in pots and spend most of the year in the greenhouse, only coming out when the buds are up. I probably pamper them too much but it works for me and its what dad has done here for years, even then, he didnt put them out at all, just brought them into the conservatory so mum could see them.

Last year I split them up and got about a 100 little ones, all coming on nicely now, I dont know how long it will be before they flower.

    Hello All

Just checking in. Managed to walk around road unescorted today, came back and slept.

We use Pure Soya all the time, Stork for baking (now seems to be dairy free) Son2 had a dairy allergy so have used it for years. As for flavour - well it can be added!

    Back soon

  • congrats on your walk Matty image, erm, not all of us are great at adding flavour, unless the desired flavour is burned!image
