Pleasant enough morning but trying not to be grumpy! Yesterday I promised OH we'd go for a family bike ride today, but then saw Harlow Carr have a rhododendron show on today so have tried unsuccessfully to wriggle out of the biking.image At least it wont take too long and I might get some garden time later when it's rainingimage

    Hosta your bed sounds amazingimage

Have a good day wonky and dove and all the rest of youimage

Fairy - a couple more Daniel D's and an Elsa Spath - they were a gift from a work friend who has been "doing" his garden and asked for a bit of advice.

sadly, something ate Constance image.  Not sure mice or slugs, but no matter what I tried I could not stop it happening.  Might try her again in a different place (maybe climbing through Constance Spry, with pulsatilla Eve Constance at her feet ....can you tell there is a common theme hereimage).  I have other early flowerers that are doing well, Frankie and Ruby, so worth another try I think.

meanwhile Daniel, who is fresh from the nursery, is flowering alreadyimage

I had Elsa at one time but lost her. Don't think I knew enough about them at the time and didn't give her the right conditions image She's very pretty

I've dispatched DD. It didn't come through the winter very well at all and I decided to cut my losses and was brutal image

My Constance has been glorious but there has definitely been a lack of molluscs this year which may have helped.  I have it in a very narrow raised bed with a carex at her feet and a little pasqueflower further along the bed which is the same colour. A couple of pieces have found their way through the carek and trail down the front of the bed.  Last year I gathered loads of pine and fir cones and put them round emerging clematis. It seemed to be successful. I have a ready supply here as there's a pine at the end of the garden image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Just popped home for " lunch" ( I know it's just gone 11am) I'll try to get a pic of the ducklings and the new bed when I come home later. Bed should be easy enough, at least it's not going to swim away from me.

    Devon.

Have a nice day Dove and Wonky.  (I'm not watching the news yet either).

Hosta those Dahlia's should make a fab show.  I've bought four new ones this year and they have all started sprouting so I'll be planting them out soon.

Could do with a bit of shorbread tasting myselfimage

Been to GC this morning.  It's our 40th wedding aniv today, not doing much in the way of celebrating as we are going away to Cornwall for a few days soon with all the family (our present to each other).  I got extra treats though.  A new wisteria (not giving up on the old one yet though) .  The new one has loads of flowers in bud so hopefully if I prune it right it should be ok.  Also two new pink pots and a couple of large purple cinerarias.

Have planted the plants I bought from Malvern. Not sure if I will get the wisteria in today as Hubby has gone to the gym and I cant plant it on my own.

Secondborn is popping in for lunch and then a nice quite evening in.
