    Good morningimage

Lovely day here for a walk chicky.  It's very crunchy underfoot but I didn't slip once which is unusual for me.

Things are going to be very different here soon.  A new high school is being built and an access road going to be right at the bottom of the garden.  At the moment it is a dirt track lane with one house at the end so we're not used to much traffic and we'll be overlooked due to the lay of the land.  I'm slightly miffedimageimage

Anyone got any crested newts or rare orchids they could send please?image

Morning all. Chilly here after a bit more snow . Just -3 when I went out to feed the hungry birds - a bit late after a lie in image Doubt it'll get anywhere above zero today. It's not been much higher than that anyway for a week or two and even then only the odd day is above four or five. At least it might see off more bugs and pests this winter.

Glad you had a good time Panda image

I'd suggest Fatsia if you want an evergreen W'song. They don't like too dry though in my experience but I expect if you get some FYM into the area and mulch well after planting it'll be fine once established. I've got one in a pot just now and it's thriving despite all the dry weather we had here last year and only the occasional watering when I remembered. It'll grow quickly too. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Morning all, snow today and still snowing, lowering clouds, can barely see to the end of the road though a real Christmas card scene. The bushes and trees on the front covered with snow, no sign of birds though the feeder is full and the water de-iced.

Pork and stuffing today all the trimmings it will be served at 13: 00 any late comers hard luck.

    Frank.

How horrid for you Lesley, you must be more than slightly miffed. Better go and plant a tall thick hedge.

Dog walk is off. The woods around me are full of huntsmen with guns and dogs, it's making my dog nervous. A baying hound with a bell round it's neck passed in front of the garage.

    Hi everyone...

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I will take them into consideration with the whole scheme.

OH has already told me I can buy a larger specimen for the back of the border which is great and since I had to go to the pet store to buy little Flynn a rainproof coat (so he doesn't get too wet in the garden with me come rain or shine) I popped over the road to my DIY centre with attached garden section and purchased three box ballsimage

I bought smaller ones last year to start off the process of growing them into balls for structure but I really need some maturity to this border so the inevitable happened. But OH said it was okay so you lot will forgive my cheating right?image

If Oh says it's ok then it's not cheating Wintersongimage

Thanks Lizzie, it will be a shock to the system if/when it goes ahead.  We have a hedge but couldn't manage anything like as high as needed.  Perhaps a few smallish trees would help if they don't mind wet feet.  Never mind, it hasn't happened yet.  Shame about your walk - what are they hunting?

Frank you put me in the mood so it's going to be pork chops tonightimage
