Evening all, been a beautiful day, sunny all day reached 10 degrees this afternoon.
As it was so nice I decided to take Shadow for a walk around our local lake, which means a 10 minute car trip. Just over halfway noticed a huge black labrador looking very miserable sat leaning over what looked like a sack of potatoes. As I got closer I realised it was an old man lying on the ground. I stopped the car and with poor Shadow going mad in the back of the car went to check. For a few seconds I thought the poor man was dead, then slowly as I spoke to him he stirred. He was not in a good way and had obviously been there some time. There was no-one around, no houses nearby, I didn't know what to do, all I could think of was to call the pompiers. Unfortunately, I didn't know the name of the road (it's just a tiny lane) but luckily as I was struggling to explain my whereabouts would you believe a post van appeared on the horizon - what better person to help.
Turns out she knew the man, knew where he lived, told the pompiers she thought he was ok and then between us we got him up, got him in my car and I followed the post van to his house. with the poor overweight Lab following on behind me. When we got to the house his wife ( who looked about a 100 years old & was a tiny thing) sent him in the house with a flea in his ear for scaring everybody, the poor man was half blind, deaf and extremely shaky after falling and lying in the wet grass for however long, but was obviously not going to get any sympathy there, bless him. They are very tough these French farmers! Most touching thing was the dog, he wasn't going anywhere without his master. I am going to make a cake in the morning and take it over for the poor man and check he is ok.Certainly made our walk a little bit more exciting than normal.
P.S. Shadow seems to have accepted the 'crate' is his bed and slept quietly through the night again. Phew!
Off to Pilates now, which sounds very good but I have just had a rather large piece of Banoffee Pie (had to use up the leftover bananas).
Good evening to all.

Wow DD what a day you've had! Great job on helping the old chap return home with his very loyal dog. Have a good pilates session to de-stress and reward yourself with something nice when you get home
Christmas and New Years were horrible,I got the flu 2 days before Christmas and Grace my dear Wife got it on Christmas day. What made it bad was Grace has Emphysema and she never smoked a say in her life.and I have COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). I smoked for 55 years,Grace had trouble breathing and I had panic moments (not enough air getting into lungs and that is a horrible feeling).Still have to sit for a while after walking about 30 Feet.
Sorry to hear you have both had flu Bill. Seems as though it's knocked you for six. I hope you are now on the road to recovery. Not too long till spring now
DD you do lead an adventurous life. Glad that the old man was safely delivered home and I'm sure his wife had been so worried it came out as anger. (Well I hope so). What a lovely faithful dog he has.
Been a bit headachy today so off for a bath and early night and will bounce back tomorrow.
Best of luck tomorrow Matty. Will be thinking of you xx.
Back from Pilates, feels good, also feel am getting a bit better at it too - not quite so weeble like now when doing the sit up rolly thingy.
Considering we moved to France for a quiet life - it is anything but, in a wonderful way (obviously don't mean an old man collapsing on the road is wonderful, but you know what I mean), never a dull moment.
But, like others on here tonight feeling tired, so going to chance an early night, with Shadow in his crate a bit longer than usual. OH has given him a long walk around the woods whilst I was at Pilates so he should be worn out too.
Btw - saw 3 lovely little deer on my way out to Pilates, 3 little white tails bobbing away from car headlights, so nice to see even though I know they can be a pain in the garden.
Goodnight all.
