Sounds like we all need tethering down! Hope not to much plant damage has been caused! My iris are being tossed about and I'm off out to stake them for the first time today! My friends father used to tinker with iris and developed a Boxford Spice which is an amazing rusted blend of colours! Dove has already put her name down for a few of those beauties!
Also pictures will be attempted later today as I have bought a tablet and am hoping to be able to upload so I can pick brains for my next faze!
Fingers crossed for calmer weather for all! Hope everyone enjoys their day!
Morning all - hope everyone's garden survives the 2nd battering forecast for today. One corner of my garden is windy at the best of time & I'm trying to grow some tougher evergreens there as windbreaks. They were nearly flat to the ground yesterday.
Today is recycling bin day - might give it a miss - can't see the bins staying upright for long if it's as bad as yesterday
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Rained heavily all night but at least the wind has now dropped.......but forecast for more today Quite a few small bits of oak tree on the ground and bird table blown over. But hopefully everything else is ok.
Getting millions of emails this morning as tablet 'froze' for nearly 2hrs yesterday......panick panick......then nothing came through till this morning.
Been outside for a mooch in my dressing gown after watching the dawn chorus programme, was very informative.
It's still gusty out but nothing broken, just a couple of flappy bits. Birds were waiting for their breakfast, the starlings formed a queue in the tree canopy waiting with their beady eyes on me and started advertising the free food to their mates as soon as I was done. Some happy baby birds this morning
Checked known plants for slug damage, took about 7 from one iris last night and this morning, newly planted Liatris are also struggling whilst the older clump is untouched must be all that leafy growth they put on early. Also more clematis buds popping, one Miss Bateman cutting that I took last year is already a decent sized plant, guess I should be pruning it really, also got my prize Rebecca just about to show me what all the fuss is about
Hideous out there. Blowing a gale and pouring rain.
One of the cardoon I planted last weekend is now horizontal.
Our friends bought me a FAB new hosta, Queen Josephine because I wired up the back wall retrained their climbing roses . Bless'em, and Josephine, she's a beauty.
Haven't read back the last few days, but hope all are well, including OHs ,children, grandchildren ,parents and pets.
Sounds like we all need to construct some form of windbreak! GC visit to look for something to break up the wind tunnel that funnels down the side of our house!
Watching gardening bids on YouTube for inspiration, listening to the wind with second coffee, learning how to work tablet
, thanks for the congrats BM not very technological but gonna attempt pics later, all a bit green and brown ATM as pretty much pulled everything out to give the garden a fair chance against ground elder and bind weed invasion!
Been looking at the picture thread and there are so many beautiful pics of all your hard work and wow! What an inspiration! I came to the right place obviously!
