Hi all, thanks for listening, offloading seems to have helped my mood. Instead of wallowing, I chopped some of the branches off the greenhouse tree [ hand saw, unfortunately OH does not let me use chainsaw. ]
Have also removed all broken glass, and when we get a thaw I shall make some temporary repairs. Unfortunately I think I have lost most of the plants, but I am going to try and stay positive.
Tomorrow, if my arms have not seized up, I shall be attacking other fallen tree, a 40 foot willow.
Many on here are suffering far worse problems, so I am truly grateful that you listen, and try to help lift the gloom.
Roll on January escape to the sun.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Good news Pdoc! Think of all that firewood!!! Hope you've got a woodburning stove 'cos willow spits but it burns well. And all that sawing - raises those seratonin levels!
What plants have you lost? Anything any of us can replace? Not that I've got much tender stuff, I've only got a mini wooden greenhouse - but I'm very good at volunteering help from other people
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all. Lovely and frosty outside; thinking about all those horrid biting bugs shivering away
Apparently my greenhouse is being used as a paint booth today so there'll be no gardening for me. Maybe I'll build a snowman. The neighbours have made an awesome iglo!
Morning We have had a thaw, no sign of frost but it looks cold. Last nights wind nearly took my face off!
hoping to see now what damage done in greenhouse. The fuschias looked sad but I will leave them till the last moment, palms were tied up but the geraniums etc are sad
seeds will be a gonner, will wait till late spring tho before I try again
My biggest loss will be my jasmine, I have been growing it lovingly for years and it repaid all summer, in fact there is a bowl of it still in the kitchen ( I get it to flower if I bash the stems)
I think many have suffered much more than us, so sorry. I think it's the initial sight that gets you.

Make a list Lilly P - the neighbour's household insurance may cover it. I know it won't replace the work and effort, but every little helps.
