  • Kef no I didn't put any ericaceous compost down just planted straight in an they are thriving in fact I would say that already ( in 1.5 months) grown about 2 inches! I think our soil is a bit acidic anyhow it's bagshot sand apparently and rhododendrons love it so!!!!! Orchid I love the green house wish I could have room but our garden is officially full now!!!! What with climbing structures, she's, swing and garden room!!!

Orchid Lady your greenhouse looks great all the very best of gardening for years to come in it. It's a great escape place from all the madness sometimes just sitting there sowing seeds or whatever so enjoy yourself.

Agree Verdun, my salvias have done well over winter except the patio blue. Echinaceas, I might need a bit of help with at the weekend if you're about. Heleniums want want want, got rudbekias (they are similar aren't they or am I thinking of something else?) anyway, not keen in yellow but can you get heleniums in oranges and other colours?maybe I should google it, but prefer trusty forumers advice really. image

So would you say heleniums are a bit less temperamental than rudbekias?
