Thanks for the good luck Fidget, I won the last game - £86 Did have to put up with my friend laughing at me all night coz the way she was sitting meant that she could see my bulging hamster cheek
Hi Bill, my diary is now manic, rarely blank to let me do my thing. But would we want it any other way? I once had a job, thankfully lasting only a few months, where I had almost nothing to do, and it was one of the worst of times.
afternoons here have gone beyond fine, past lovely into the exquisite-november light on golden leaves against the autumn sky. weather has been so fine with so much new growth on the penstemons that i took a few dozen cuttings. have got to finish rebuilding the cold room so everything can go in there-the bay windows are filling up.
Great picture David - makes up for the fact that it is hissing it down here
Great win Panda - that'll buy a lot of plants
Hang on in there Matty - thinking of you
One more day at work, then hope to get some gardening done at the weekend. Plus make my christmas cake and puddings - the "big stir" takes place tonight
It was lovely driving down to Suffolk in the sunshine yesterday. I had lunch with a friend and met her very new baby grand daughter before going to the memorial service. After a short time spent at the pub where the deceased was landlord,my friend and I went back to her home and herded her geese into their shelter for the night. Noisy beggars!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've got puddings to make to take to MIL, and daughter has put in a request for at least one as well. I have one left from last year - but I won't be making mine until the 22/23rd November - that's Stir Up Sunday this year, and I shall be putting mine on to steam along with Jill Archer as I do every year (what's the betting she's in tears 'cost it's the last time she'll be making Christmas puds at Brookfield?).

- they won't leave Brookfield Dove - middle england would riot, and noone wants that with an election coming up. I can see Prime Ministerial intervention on the cards ......
