I read about that Verdun - very sad - the sea can be so deceptive and some people just don't understand the risks they're taking.
It's quite warm here too - we turned the heating on yesterday morning as it felt quite chilly, but when it switched on in the evening it was too warm so it's off again now.
This is the second morning running that Hefty's supper hasn't been eaten - he doesn't usually go into hibernation until well into November, and it's still quite mild
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all - late start here - day off, as have a funeral to go to.
Lily - the NT place is Waggoners Wells - one of the first National Trust sites ever acquired. Its a lovely spot. We normally link it in with a trot round Ludshott Common which is next door, but had uncle with us yesterday, so kept the walk short and on the flat.
Fingers crossed the camera repair works Fidget - thats expensive kit
Good morning all, lovely morning here again, cold start but like BL we were at 20 degrees yesterday and apparently will be similar all week. Been very busy with hedges and a bit of tree trimming, garden does need a bit more light in places. OH got the ladders out so made the most of him whilst he was in a helpful mood.
FG pics are lovely, be hoping for something like that in my new patch - eventually.
Hope you hedgehog is OK Dove, sounds a little worrying.
Bekkie - sympathise with you re christening, my son is on holiday from school, 2nd week now - and he is driving me mad - think you are supposed to like your own children aren't you
Good day to everyone another day of weeding for me and a a bit more trimming and tidying.

I'm sure he's ok - he's probably just changing his routine in preparation for hibernation. Our big ash trees are losing their leaves now, and it seems that this triggers his hibernation instinct - he starts appearing in the daytime on dry mornings gathering up the leaves. We don't rake them up and bag them for leafmould until after hibernation is underway.
It's lovely and sunny here too DD - think I'll try to get out there early today

Bekkie - that was my original plan - suddenly at 43 discovered we had a 'surprise' baby on the way! Everyone who knew me thought it was hilarious, I had managed a restaurant for years and my biggest complaint was the kids. I can tell you it was a steep learning curve. Love him to bits really. Have discovered since coming to France though that boarding school is very popular here - Mmmm, will have to look into it.
