Panda check out the thread by comos 72 I know you have quince and wondered about fruit I got an ID wrong again If someone asks for an I.D of a tomato I might get that one right
doc- don't think I could even manage one of mine - and they're both small hobbit like creatures....
B****y vile here - windy, wet and only just hanging on to double figures. The robin was bungee jumping down onto the feeder earlier to save being blown away...
Glad you had a better visit with mum Verd
Great pix chicky - the pumpkins are terrific.
Dinner purchased and not much else apart from a 'sacrificial' feeder to place in the flight path of the starlings in the faint hope that they leave some of the others for the little birds.
Will look out a couple of pix of those daffs for you Panda if I can find them.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Have I mentioned how much I hate dark evenings. I would much rather have dark mornings then I could stay in bed till it was light.
Had an unexpected visit from firstborn and family plus secondborn and partner this afternoon. Its lovely when all the family get together, but now its nice and peaceful again.
Haven't ventured into the garden today. Will have to plan where I'm going to put tulips, alliums and nerines. Also got about 5 geraniums on order and agastache blue boa (that's Verdun's fault). Can everyone now stop showing pictures and recommending plants please otherwise I will have to start planting things in the neighbour's garden. I've even started toying with the idea of taking the conifers down at the bottom of the garden and planting something more attractive. The problem is that I will be overlooked by two houses until the replacements grow and somedays I don't think I'll be around that long.
I love seeing plants grow from tiny little things into large full grown specimens. But on this occasion I wish I was rich enough to get one of those instant hedges put in.
Lovely pumpkins Chicky.
Fairy I reckon those starlings will just look on that new feeder as a starter and then move across to the main course.
I'm still not feeding the birds since Roland Rat appeared in the garden. Not seen him since but will wait a couple more weeks before feeding again. Still haven't told hubby I just couldn't stand seeing that 'I told you so' look.
Bird feeders full, wet washing in living room, no burglar alarm on, and the garage door unlocked. Kitchen looks like a bombsite, I've put the dishwasher on twice.
He did water though. Everything in the greenhouse was standing in two inches of the stuff. I've tipped the trays out, time for things to be only damp instead of wet.
Just got to unpack and do the washing now.
OH is snoring. I've had a bath, put an entire pot of conditioner on my hair , and finally I feel clean again. Although my fingernails are the cleanest they've been all year.
I think I'll send the housesitter back to his mum in Oz.
Welcome home Fidget. Nothing worse than coming home to a messy house. Think he deserves to go back to his mum and learn some manners. But glad you had a good time - we have been loving your photos
We had a lovely lunch out at my friend's. She'd invited some of the people I've known the longest in Dordogne. When we left home this morning to go to church it was only 7° so I wore a pullover with a skirt, a fleece and tights. By the time we arrived at friend's the sun was shining it was 20° and she'd put out chairs in the sun in the garden. Stripped off tights and fleece but was boiling in the pullover, though it was only a light one. Luckily lunch was indoors.
Yvie, I have 2 Agastaches that I potted on yesterday, thanks to Verdun, Black Adder and Blue Boa. I hope they will be OK spending the winter in a cold frame. Also 3 Geums, including Totally Tangerine, also thanks to Verdun. Will have to do some reshuffling in flowerbeds. Oh yes, also salvia uliginosa - Verdun again! But I've just seen that that likes damp soil, bother, no chance here in summer!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Well I'm home.
Aussie housesitter seems to have gone walkabout.

Time to put hedgehogs dinner out.
Then an early night for me.
