Pouring here too, i desparately need to get out and do things.
Whats 'ironing'? I vaguely remember a very heavy thing si
tting in the back of a cupboard, everthing gets folded flat when it comes out of the machine and again as I get it off the line, never iron, except one top I have and OH white shirt only used for hatches, matches and dispaches.
My daughter used to iron everything, shes learning!
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I iron everything, ridiculous I know, but that's what mum did and it just feel wrong not to, I have stopped doing the underwear and socks (mum literally did it all). This morning I was ironing my gardening shorts, they are covered in all sorts, shed paint, wood stain and goodness knows what, I wouldn't leave the house in them but somehow just felt obliged to iron them.
Have moved onto better chores now, got a delicious smelling apple tray bake in the oven, should be ready for 1 o'clock (French time) if anyone fancies a bit!
Like you Yvie website browsing is looking dangerously close, takes me a while here though, have to decode all the French - getting quicker at it though!
Btw, OH loved West Wing, has all the box sets and even now often settles down to watch them after a stressful day. I am trying to work my way through Homelands, but somehow or other don't get time of sit in front of TV very often. Bake Off & Strictly my only two regulars - and of course Sunday morning gardening progam
repeats - whilst ironing!
Best go check that cake!

Morning friends; assuming you still remember who I am.
I am back from my mums after several weeks looking after her while she was blind.
The good news is that she has now regained some sight in the good eye, and has thrown me out, because I was making too much of a fuss!
One of the most traumatic periods of my life, probably worse than my divorce.
Any way, home now, desperately need some me time, and some garden time.
One fantastic thing did happen, I have managed to get the job as expedition medic on a trip to the arctic next year. Sadly still have to pay, but a much reduced amount. The trip is to go and study Beluga whales, which should be fun. I have to learn how to shoot before going, due to the risk of Polar Bear attack.
Please forgive me for not trying to catch up on what you have all been up to. Hope you are all well and will hopefully see a bit more of you.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Punkdoc, that sounds fantastic, what an opportunity. Glad to hear your mum is improving.
Lyn and DD, when I say ironing, the basket only contains a few things that I wore on hols. I don't do ironing either, I had to do the family ironing when I was a teenager and swore then that when I had my own family I would only buy paper clothes. Unfortunately science hasnt embraced my idea, instead I test each potential purchase by screwing up a small section in my hand, if it creases I dont buy it. However, I was swayed by a couple of pairs of linen mix trousers and I do have a couple of tops that have to be ironed. I suspect that they will all remain in the basket until I'm due to travel to warmer climes.
I did however, decide to go for the West Wing and am on my third episode. It's going to be the last for today as it looks like the sun is peeping through. Although if the rain returns......
So glad your Mum has regained some sight pdoc. What huge relief for you and it was good of her to throw you out too
Wow - congratulations on getting the expedition medic job. What an adventure. We will of course need a blow by blow account of all the preparations before the big event and hope you turn into a sharpshooter. If you do I really hope you don't have to shoot a polar bear I'm sure you do too
What a wonderful opportunity Punkdoc, how long is the expedition for? Also pleased to hear you mum is recovering, now make sure you do get some 'me time'. Just what a doctor would order I am sure. Nice to see you back.

Pdoc ((hugs)) so glad to hear your mum has got some sight and some confidence back. What a fantastic adventure you have planned! Now you really need to start feeding yourself up - like seals and walrus you'll need a layer of blubber to keep the cold out
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Great adventure Puncdoc - need lots of woollies though!
And Mum must be much better if she's thrown you out
My good news is that daughter and partner have walked away from that house, there own decision so I am 'not to blame' we are very relieved.
I don't iron - with 3 school kids and an OH all requiring shirts I suddenly thought one Sunday - What am I doing?? so stopped and now only do essentials for instance if there is a special occasion. Quite easy to hang washing up, fold it etc and get minimum of creases - like Lyn
Rotten weather day - I think I may order some plants

Hey doc - don't forget your woolly drawers love!
Great to see you back and glad all is well with mum.
I have some very good advice for you - don't eat the yellow snow...
And now that I've lowered the tone with that old joke, I'll get my coat and go back to work...
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thanks Fg. As always your knowledge and wisdom, never mind your sense have humour, have been greatly missed.
As I said to my mum before leaving, there is light at the end of the tunnel!
