Thanks BL - I'll probably give it a go with about half the fruit - will probably be ok in cakes etc if nothing else & I need the space in the freezer!
Hope you enjoyed your hols in Italy - we had a great time in your part of the world - weather was absolutely fantastic for the whole 2 weeks - I think we're coming again next year when the french open gardens might be up & running. Good luck with getting yours on the list - from your pics it looks like a bit of a no-brainer to me - I'm sure yours would be a star entry!

I always use added pectin with strawberry jam, whether frozen or not. The easiest way is to use Jam sugar, which has pectin in it. Or of course you can use a bottle of Certo.
NB Preserving sugar is not the same as Jam sugar. Preserving sugar has larger crystals giving a 'brighter' set, but it doesn't have added pectin.

Hi folks! Our car is called Little Ron. It's an IQ (about Smart size) hence the "little", and the log book told us it used to have a personalised number plate with RON on it. Would have been cruel to change his name...

The man who trashed our local tip has just got 3 years in jail. Seems a bit harsh, actually, as it seems he was suffering severe depression at the time he ran amok, but what do I know?...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
BL - Thanks for the site link - it has already gone in my "2015 holiday ideas" folder. We found taking the caravan into France really easy & I think we might try and do some WW1 memorials & museums in May next year & then head down your way again for a couple of weeks in September. We were just outside Monpazier & really enjoyed the bastide towns & the local markets.
Having a few smaller gardens to visit would be a really nice thing to line up so the site will be a good tool for planning nearer the time.
Thanks again both of you
PS - None of my cars have ever had names - unless they didn't start - in which case the names were unprintable - Basil Fawlty was mild in comparison!!!

Everyone has been very busy today, might have to get the gravel contact from you BL, our drive is in dreadful need of a top up.
All my jam was made in the summer, think it's going to last a while, love making it though. Did do first batch of apple chutney, just have to wait 3 months for it to be ready. Still aways off 10
jars though.
Sort of got my daffs planted, will be all done by tomorrow anyway, just started pulling some weeds out and two hours later realised I was right off track - again! And then of course remembered son had to be taken to Judo, minor detail.
Have just spent the last hour collecting walnuts in too, promised sproglet he could have some pocket money if he helped, but then he spent more time counting them than collecting them!
Must get him to bed now and am going to get little pile of ironing done, just so I can say no ironing in the house, for a few days anyway and then Bake Off and maybe a little glass of vin to help me relax.
Au revoir.

We had a couple of glasses of a very nice Sauv. Blanc with supper (baked trout & salad) and now I'm slightly squiffy and we're watching GBBO and eating Salted Peanut and Chilli Brittle
Think I'd better close the laptop for the evening - see you in the morning folks.

I had a great time in Italy, thanks, Topbird. Lovely weather, beautiful lake and villages of character. Glad you enjoyed your hols here.
This is the "Open Gardens" website, but the gardens for next year aren't all there yet.

Gg - thanks for the offer of the mallow seeds as I loved the colour.
I've sent you a PM
Not much time to look about tonight. I will catch up properly once I'm back home on Friday.
