Just been given 4 tickets for the show - really excited about it this time as we are going with friends - so much better when you are with another gardener - OH's go to food and drink tent/hall we do the plant stands - great
They are arriving later today so am making a cake, then an Italian restaurant then a sleep then the show
Arrived OK - not too many lorries - just speedy cars It's amazing how you can follow a few cars and then look at the speedo. Fortunately I was only doing 73ish when I passed the Police car.
You won't miss me Beaus - I'm much closer now so the signal will be better I'm in Cheshire Lizzie which is a 4 hour drive with a coffee stop. I had to re-read your post as the first time I thought you said sniffing manure
Has anyone told you to be careful with that wrist yet Dove
Hope the driving lesson went well chicky. I don't envy you. Good luck with those everlasting leaves lily.
Hugs Fairy x
Have a great weekend - shows, resting, visiting, eating ... I'm off to hit the garden here. It's lovely to be here when it's not an emergency
hope you are all well, still geting used to this tablet, its soooooo slow, i feel like ive gone back to the stone age, well, you know what i mean! cant have a new phone for a couple of months, so will have to get used to it!
Had a busy day, planted 100 alliums, some pansies and a wild swan. Ive washed half my pots still have a stack up the corner of the garden, they might end up in the bin yet. Mowed and scarified the lawn. Deadheaded and watered. Washing finished and visited mum. I am now officially kn*****ed. I'm warning all you animal lovers in advance if that bl**dy squirrel digs up my bulbs I will strangle it.
Tomorrow, if I can walk, I'm going to aerate and top dress the lawns and may get round to painting grandchildrens play house to match the shed. Alternatively, I may just collapse on the sofa and do nothing, we'll just have to wait and see.
Was tempted to go to the Malvern show as its not too far from me but I think Ill wait until the spring one, dont think my bank balance will stand it at the moment.
Oh YvieS - I feel tired just reading your posting!!
Have just come in from a lovely couple of hours in the garden - so very mild I topped it off with an al fresco G & T - possibly the last of the season but, then again, maybe not. It was so peaceful - no sounds except the birds rustling in the trees (the small birds - blue tits, robins, wrens etc have been very active today) and the sound of squirrels pinching all the hazel nuts and walnuts. They make such a mess removing the casing and then shelling the walnuts but it's quite entertaining to watch.
Picked a load of apples for storing and a pile of quinces so I think I'll be making quince jelly tomorrow and perhaps some hot apple chutney with windfalls.
This time of year is a bit sad to see the garden slowly fading - but I love that sense of nestling in and stocking up ready for the winter
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Yvie - that's nothing compared to what I'll do to the cat that keeps *****ing on my front grass....
What a busy girl you've been - lying on the sofa would be well deserved
I've been busy too - lots of digging done in the area in front of my screen which will be grass next year. It'll have to be a bit at a time as it's all gravel, compacted clay, rocks and roots. The pickaxe has come in handy
Other stuff done too so now having a cuppa before getting some dinner and probably doing the same as Yvie - falling asleep! Will try and watch the golf though.
Going to have a look at chicky's crate first
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
