  • Greetings all - just back from 5 days granny duties.  Granddaughter no.1 kindly gave me her cold, so I'm wrapped in a blanket and supping tea...

Verdun, I absolutely understand your guilt.  I doubt if you'd find anyone who didn't feel a bit of a failure for putting their mum in a nursing home - I know my sister and I did - but Dove is right, you and she will spend far more quality time together now, and once she's settled you'll know you've done the right thing.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Verdun that is what I was told - quality time is so important and now I have pleasant memories and there was a lot of laughter - there wouldn't have been otherwise.

Lovely tea - a novelty to me - and an interesting tour of the building as well.

Sorry Gg no pictures-we visited it once

  • I know exactly how you feel Verdun, I felt the same, but Dove is right she will be well looked after and you can enjoy the time spent together when you visit. It might take a little while for her to settle, but she will be fine and make new friends. Best wishes and hugs Verdun

Hi Folks,  Verdun, dont feel guilty, I did when mum went into the nursing home almost a year ago and I shouldn't have.  Mum is much better in the home, she has company and someone on hand 24/7 if she is ill.  I have peace of mind and I can visit her regularly without worrying about what I will find.

Glad your meeting went well GG I really don't know how you find the time to work at the station as well as your own garden.

Grandchildren much better spots dried up and they are full of life.

Today allium bulbs arrived from the mag so hopefully will plant them tomorrow, also Leucojum bulbs arrived so they will need to go in as well. I think it's going to be a busy day.

Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • Hi, no worries, travelled up today, will go to show tomorrow. Will possibly go to Picton Gardens/nursery on Sunday which is on my bucket list.

Macmillan coffee morning well supported. Now have dish pan hands, but got to eat compensatory cakeimage Cheese scones particularly good.

Great work in the Station Gg  amazing progress in just one season.

Verd, 24 hour professional care and oversight plus nice environment and good food is to be valued, without counting all the advantages for you and yours knowing that Mum is in good hands. Could come to any of us in due course. Hope someone cares for me with as much love and thoughtfulness.image

Anniversary lunch was cancelled as she wasn't well. We turned up, an hour's drive, they are an elderly couple, forgot they hadn't rung us. So, after a chat, we went and wandered around Brantome and had a very late lunch in a brasserie. Then I found some really nice and comfy black sandals in a sale half price. Been looking all year, but I have such big flat feet I hadn't found anything. So OH bought them as an extra, late birthday present.

Finished potting the 60 forget-me-nots, but they turned out to be 106!

    Watched GW and Strictly.

My mum wanted to go into a home and she felt safe there.

    Good morningimage

I hope your Mum settles in quite soon Verdun and you will see the benefits of the care she gets. Hugs,

Panda I suppose it helped having inside information where the chips were hiddenimage

Pleased to hear that your grandchildren are better Yvie.  Hope it;s nice weather for bulb planting

Sorry your lunch was cancelled Lizzie and hope your friend soon feels better.  Well done for finding sandals though.  I suffer the same problem of big feet and shoe shopping is a nightmare.  Good bonus with the forget-me notsimage

Hope your cold improves soon Liri.  Family are so generous with everything.

Glad you enjoyed your special treat Matty.  Wonder what ill tempt you at Malvern. You may meet Woodyimage (probably got the wrong days again)

Right I'm off to throw some thing in the back of the car.  Off to visit Mum and Dad and home next Friday.  I can usually pop in from time to time on Dad's computer - but not alwaysimage  Have a good weekend.
