chicky - glad you had a good day ...and she'll be fine even if you aren't  x

Been outside all afternoon - not long in - the rain never arrived and it was sunny again. This weather is very strange here. Thundery looking clouds but they don't seem to want to offload! If I eventually get an outside tap put in, I bet it starts and never goes off image

Off to have a look round at all your exploits now image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Lucky Orchid Lady has just had her very favourite meal cooked for her by OH and a lovely bottle of Sancerre, looking after me because I didn't stop yesterday getting final 'bits' done and doing my full time job!!

Big boy has gone on a big hike in the lakes, 2 nights camping out and about 40 miles in total walking whilst carrying all equipment including his tent etc.  He will be fine, he did the practice one ok.  My inky concern is his boss wouldn't let him have the night off tomorrow and I know he is going to be shattered so not a happy mummy and OH went  in and had a word with the boss yesterday!!

I didn't realise it was 50 plants and a different supplier for the offer, I might change my mind....thanks GG image

Glad the BBQ went well BL, you do so much for charity and to look after other people image

OH has just bought all his office furniture on eBay for £65..... Desk, 2 cupboards and a locking filing cabinet.....bargain image Ooh it's a good day imageimage

  • Inky??? Only!! Damned autocorrect!!

  • CHIMNEY POT......I've found one on eBay.....£10 and only 5 miles away....OMG image

  • OL I thought if they are small wallflowers from T&M then I wont bother and then I noticed they were bare root and from a different supplier -  as I have a few I have grown from seed but want more

think they flower earlier than sweet Williams

are you wanting a chimney pot to plant up, good deal for you OH

  • I know GG, I realised that after reading your post, I hadn't looked properly and assumed they were T&M so thought is give them a miss.....I'm ordering them tomorrow so thank you image

Yes the chimney pot is to plant up, I've wanted one for a while and enquired at our builders merchants about 4 months ago, a new one was £50 minimum. I will need advice if (when) I win it as to what to put in it, something nice and trailing and preferably evergreen image

  • Chicky, my son went to York Uni and loved it.  He's now a lecturer there... image
     - but I well remember leaving him there as an 18-year-old undergrad, he fine, mum & dad in tears... image

Thanks, Beaus Mum - I'm fine thanks, but just don't have much time to go on line since there's one laptop between two in this family.  Still hoping to post more photos, maybe tomorrow... image

DD, my leaf container was made with 4 bamboos stuck into the ground in a square, with chicken mesh wired to them to form a "cage" (with no top).  You could make it longer lasting with proper posts in the corners I guess, but I knew I'd be moving it before long.

Strange day spent mostly at a model railway exhibition...  I'm to have the job of making the scenery for my OH's model railway.  Bit like garden design & construction in miniature...  I prefer the real, full-sized thing, but making mini trees etc could be quite fun when it's too cold/wet to be outside... image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • I forgot to say earlier (as I do!), loved the cobweb pics Chicky and I think you and I seem like quite similar mummy's, you with your brisk and me with my boys.....although I expect most mums shed a tear on those milestone days/times in their children's lives.....hugs xx

Liri, my grandad had a fantastic model railway, sadly he died many years ago and I only saw it once but will never forget it, apparently he had it when my mum was little too. No change if direction for me as such....just more work in the evening and at weekend but changes for us as a couple and definitely for OH.......butterflies in my tummy doesn't even come close at the moment LOL!!

    Home now.....SB pouredimage

OL, Fairy ... Think we are all at a similar stage, lovely in many ways, poignant in othersimage.  But lovely to hear from Liri and others who have been there too.

Good luck with the new business - all v exciting, but bound to be a bit daunting too.  But you are throwing your hearts into it, and deserve every successimageimageimage
