chicky - no patience with hassle of compost, supposedly nothing to it, my a###!
G girl - sis bought house cos had allotments at the bottom of them! Honestly, looked for garden and land before the house! For a few years she shared half of a different one a few doors down but eventually persuaded the owner of the one joining the back of her garden to let her have it. So now has a full one right at the end of her gorgeous garden! Hope that makes sense!
I'm with you on the compost front mrsgarden and worst thing is when neighbours think its so cool to recycle and all it is is a pile of stinking mess that never gets turned, looks hideous and stinks!!! And attracts mice! Grrrr you got me on one now!
I got one of those lattice work laundry bins a few years ago, painted it white, thats what i use for the bit that anyone might see, then just shove the rest behind the shrubs!
I know compost is lovely when done right but in little gardens like ours there's just not the room to do it properly and neighbour thinks they are THE experts

You can alter the house but not its position!

And the most vile of all is those little plastic bins that you are meant to put food slops in which in the summer turns into vile mass of maggots

Wish you was my neighbour Bekkie
