Pdoc, marinade in lime juice, splash of olive oil & chilli flakes. Maybe bake in oven and have with couscous ( baked spud, whilst oven on ? ) & salad.

MrsGarden I had a breadmaker, one of those must have things, but always ended up with holes in bottom of loaves where gadget thing was. I gave it to a friend whose OH needed wheat free bread.

How can you tell I'm not in the garden? image

Thanks Chicky - much better today image

Fidget- goodness - flowers already- thought mine were looking advanced, but you're sound even better!

Dove- bread looks nice - mmmmm

Just been out in the GH and more seeds have germinated. I now have some Osteospernum babies. image

Am contemplating doing some fruit trees on cordons - thinking two pears and a plum. Any suggestions on variety?

Pdoc- nothing better than pottering round the GH. Always exciting seeing the seedlings germinating.

Verdun - you mentioned about covering peach tree. Ours is flowering too- has been sprayed- when does it need to be covered? Ours was wrecked by peach leaf curl last year.

Looks like I'm going to be growing 'edibles' this year! One of our visitors on Sunday is bringing me a hanging basket of tomatoes - hmmm, I don't do edibles OR hanging baskets, hate the thick rubbery skin of home grown tomatoes...need another few years before I progress to these skills! Veg patch is 'ready' as well - just still thinking what to grow ; carrots and rocket or some lovely flowers! (Not rocket (ha ha) science which I'd choose). I know people say once you are a gardener you must be finally 'grown up'(they mean old!) but I think that only happens when you grow veg. Oh so sorry, I couldn't stop typing and I've probably offended most of you now. In my defence- I have a strange outlook on many things in life, grovel, grovel, sorry, sorry. Hope I'm not taking PDs place in the dog house.

MrsG - Don't be put off  by previous rubbery tomatoes. Perhaps it was simply the variety you tried, or adverse weather had affected them. Someone I know asked me what her husband  should grow because he'd got a little growhouse as a present. I just said - don't grow stuff you don't like. That's the best starting point. I only grow herbs, lettuce, rocket and a few toms.  I got some strawberries last autumn too. I don't have the time, space or inclination to grow lots of other stuff.  Never feel you're not a gardener if you don't grow your own veg. Do what suits you and your lifestyle. image

I don't do hanging baskets either  image

Got some paint mixed and  some onto the fence. Much better colour now. Hate to think how many coats it's had to cover up the Dale Winton tangerine underneath  image

Bought trellis to go on it, so I need to get that painted and attached before the climbers get too big.

Roast dinner made and consumed. Daughter made Yorkshires. Very nice they were too. Cup of tea now I think.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
