Thanks KEF all packed, taxi booked and now going out for the last minute deadheading and watering. My under gardener is coming with me so the under-under gardener has his instructions but I'm not holding my breath. At least he will feed and water the birds
afternoon all. Had antihistermine for brekkie and ate the blackberries - was I supposed to rub them on the bites (only just seen the advice)? seemed to work as only just started itching again now.
Glorious day, people watching for a while, lunch out and a fascinating meeting, all part of the job.
If the sun would go down a bit I could get on with the watering, but I'm happy to wait.
Watering all finished now. I read all the advice on these pages and always try to follow it. As I saw a hedgehog in the garden again last night I decided to put a large shallow bowl of water down for it. Guess what I fell over when I was hauling the hose in and walking backwards? Oh - you guessed
No harm done fortunately but I did have a soggy shoe and trousers and a face.
Has anyone watched the Tatton Park programme that was on BBC2 yet? There was a section showing different plant combinations and one really caught my eye it was a grass called Agrostis nebulosa (cloud grass) and chocolate cosmos - it looked wonderful. More names for the plant list
Hope your ankle is getting better OL - thought of you as soon as I went over
I really must get some Aloe vera philippa - the midges have been nasty tonight.
Thanks Panda - we are going to do our very best to enjoy every minute
Off for a bath and early night. Hope you all behave while my back's turned
Baby hedgehog was under the patio table at lunchtime. I put him in a box with some water and a few worms in a pot,and he was trying hard to get out. I put him out again and he goes and lies in the sun!!. Def not right. He moves a few inches and then dozes again. When he walks he staggers like hes drunk. I say he,it might be a she. Hard to tell with all the prickles. Do I put him in the garage in a box overnight to save him from the fox? or let nature take its course?
I make blackcurrant jam by simmering the blackcurrants in a bit of water(minimum amount),for 20mins so the skins are soft, then add equal weight of ordinary granulated sugar, and boil until set is achieved, as checked by jam on cold plate method.
10 week old puppy gone home for the night, id forgotten that you need eyes in the back of your head with baby dogs! He is staying for the next few days, oh dear!
Have a lovely time Lesley
BL, how do you do it????? I couldnt cope with that many big people, let alone the little ones! No wonder you are escaping! I can only imagine the wonderful memories of "nans" house your grandkids will have
Jam? Seems very difficult, dont think i will attempt it - ever! But hope the jam issues get sorted
Mrs G, you were supposed to daub the blackberries, but whatever works!
OL, hows that leg?
Glad u had a good time Panda
