BL - it wasn't my idea to get her to do fig.8!!! As I was busy on the small-holding a very capable teenager used to exercise Katie for me sometimes - Katie was a Haflinger who, before I had her ,had spent a couple of seasons carriage-driving on Yarmouth sea front - Paula thought she needed a bit of schooling but was perhaps a bit over-ambitious - poor Katie was very confused (a bit of a dumb blonde only joking!) She was however an absolute delight to hack out, totally traffic-proof yet very responsive

Afternoon everyone, well finally, a really lovely spring day. Been out weeding most of the morning and came across some geraniums I had completely forgotten about . They look ok tho, this afternoon I plan to mow the lawn. Happy gardening everybody
Well the wind has blown the crocuses flat! Hope your GH comes along smoothly Tracey. Not 'horsey' at all - their heads and teeth are just scarily huge! KEF take it easy don't get carried away and set your back off again. Hope everyone else is well now and having a good day.
Tidied up a bit in the garden
, hoping to shove the guests outside if possible so tables washed and presentable.
cut some daffs for a vase, put up birthday banners, got helium ballon (keep calm, you're only 60)! Now waiting for SIL and niece to come and prepare food. Hmmm, wonder what to do while waiting???
Turned chilly outside now the sun (what sun???) is over the other side of the house so I'm indoors - dangerous being indoors - I've just ordered one of my favourite roses http://www.classicroses.co.uk/products/roses/bonica/ for the sunnier end of the Shady Bank, outside the dining room window - I've grown this rose in two other gardens and it's been a delight each time - it's only failing is that it's scent is slight - but it'll be growng near a clump of Sweet Rocket and some honeysuckle - I've been trying to find a better rose for that spot, but it's got them all beat! It flowers all summer long and is the prettiest thing. Beautiful for cutting too Although it's described as a ground cover rose it can reach over a metre in height and as the bank is at least a couple of feet high that'll be perfect. As it's replacing a very old scarlet climber that was here when we moved in, I've ordered a containerised one to give it every chance - I've also dug in a big pile of FYM so it should be fine.
Should be here in 10 - 14 days says the email, but as they're only a few miles down the road maybe it'll be sooner than that

We worked hard in the veggie garden this morning. I weeded and spread manure and OH rotovated. He's done half as I wasn't quite ready with the other half, but the beds for onions and potatoes are now ready. Then he said "let's go to that new restaurant near the Garden Centre for lunch". So we did, it was yummy, Chinese, Thai and Japanese. Buffets, and help yourself to a huge selection of raw food to be cooked in a Wok in the sauce of your choice.
Bought compost, 3 for the price of 2, in 80L sacks, clematis and 2 delphiniums in the GC.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
