I can't wait Archie, rain or not I LOVE James Blunt Didn't think much to the food last time I was at HR Manchester though for our son's birthday And I asked them to put a candle in a cake and sing happy birthday...like you do.....and they asked my son if it was ok first......what's that all about ??????
Morning all. I am still around. Very late night last night working on the vehicles so brain wasn't in gear first thing.
Now sat at my desk waiting for the meeting which is at 13:00. I get the feeling however this meeting will be more about bull poop than about making a decision (which at least means they then have to pay me another week!)
Morning all. That's lovely Lily, wish they would pop up in my garden, cowslip country here, not primroses.
Been some serious talk on here. I'm reading the Call the Midwife books and some of the conditions for the poor in the past were appalling. They worried about enough food of any kind, whether they were warm at night (often weren't), whether they had shoes or a warm coat. Imagine just cold water and a loo in the yard for several families with newspaper for you know what and doing the washing, especially nappies, without a machine.
Why people don't eat their 5 a day nowadays is often just that they don't like veg and would prefer doughnuts and cake and chips. I have often seen children in cafés being given a plate of chips and a hamburger, no veg at all unless you count ketchup. Those children will grow up not knowing about a healthy diet. Education is important.
I'm very lucky having enough room to grow most of my own veg.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
But how many cafés serve well-cooked fresh veg? All I'm offered in many places are frozen peas or the ubiquitous salad made from chunks of chilled red pepper and wet iceberg lettuce - and have you tasted some of the coleslaw offered in most chain restaurants/cafés?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
