Very poor decision i think, Toby Joe and Alys started the next generation of new gardeners. This is a big mistake, and a step backwards. Monty and Carol just dont do it for new starters im afraid, the BBC should look forwards not backwards.
Oh my god what was that tonight?!!!!! Sure enough monty has a lovely plot & I bet its stunning in the summer months, but what on earth were rachel and joe doing? I almost fell asleep. Loved carol kleins stroll around anglesey gardens-really was the best bit & could have watched that all evening truth be told, but if this how gardeners world is going to be from now on well I'll be leaving it alone, bit like how monty came across on tonights show - alone. Listen you can hear the tumbleweed blowing across his garden.
Man wot a shame. This programme is stuffed. Monty was boring,Rachel and Joe were well Rachel & Joe really-wot i xpected and if it hadn't been for Carol the whole prog would be a right-off.
I am stunned. What a huge let down, really it was. Thank god for Carol Kleins slot for without it i would have dozed off! What are the beeb thinking of. Very strange how Mr Don is on his lonesome as well i have to add. Shan't bother in future, very very disapointing.
Wow i am speechless & it takes a lot. What a strange thing that was tonight. Such potential. We sat in silence watching in wonder while cringeing. As the other this evening posts also state, thank goodness for Carol Klein.
Really disappointed with tonights showing after so looking forward to montys return. I just don't see the point to the Rachel and Joe travel show, the content was very poor. Even Monty's advice on apple pruning was very vague and those apples looked like they hadn't been pruned for years. Hopefully next weeks showing will be better.
OH MY GOD - DREADFUL TRULY DREADFUL. How did Monty get away with planting a rose in that fashion. Please do NOT plant roses with their graft below soil level like that and with all that soil piled up & around it as was demonstrated on tonights Gardeners World first airing of the season,it will rot & die very quickly.Apple tree random pruning is not advisable either unless you really know what you are doing. That was most definately not proper instruction. Not good.I'm sure i will have a lot of questions at my workshops next week.Really it's quite damaging stuff at times for newby gardeners c/o Monty.I also remember his poor advice for planting Iris 6" into the soil as earlier mentioned, that was fun explaining & putting to rights that one i can tell you.I personally found tonights show really rather strange with the only sound part being that of Carol Klein,a gardener, only unfortunately she didn't actually do any gardening!
Very disappointing. Very iffey apple tree pruning and god help that poor rose that was planted almost up to its stem ends! If i had pruned and planted like that during my Kew training i would have been shown the gates. Apalling advice.
Welcome back Monty. Viewing figures will prove the traditional style of yours as Mr Titchmarsh and those before him is what gardening enthusiasts want to see. I only watched two of the last series after years of not missing an episode. The tip with the onion sets will be put into practice tomorrow, keep well.
