  • Not Monty PLEASE not Monty!!!
    He's not a good presenter.
He doesn't provide a balanced gardening experience.
There are other things in gardens besides fruit and vegetables! Mr Don please take note!!
We used to love to curl up on the couch with a glass of wine on Friday nights to watch gardeners world, but it lost its way with Monty at the helm and then became watchable again(only just)with Toby & co and now there's nothing for us gardeners. Its awful, plain awful.
We have read today that Alan will be having his own new gardening programme on the box in June, so we will wait for that.
Def not watching gardeners world fridays anymore.
  • I say bring back Chris Beardshaw. Never mind eye candy Rachel de Thame, yuppie Alys, long border/organic man Monty, contemporary Joe Swift etc etc
Chris B knows what he is doing. His Tatton show gardens are simply beautiful-inspirational real gardens. The Flying Gardener was brilliant, wish it was on dvd,it tackled real problems in real gardens and was always presented well. Ok, he's gorgeaus too.
Monty er nope not for me i'm afraid. My garden doesn't have room for long borders or fruit cages plus i always find him hard to listen to.
  • Oh hell why is he back.Did some one fall asleep and enter some horrible nightmare world then wake up and act it out? Monty is my idea of a really bad gardener with the worst presenting skills ever. If he stood up and did a presentation in our office he would be out in days.
Toby is bright, clever and has a cherrful manner. He is plain speaking and will get my vote in the GW presenting poll.
  • I have never before commented on a t.v programme within this sort of facility nor felt the desire to, but here goes-I have watched Gardeners World for many years and it is with a heavy heart that i have watched it become the strange entity that it has become today. A feeling that i think many other Gardeners World watchers share.
It used to be presented by a Gardener who was watchably inspiring and who presented a balanced gardening experience. Percy Thrower and Geoff Hamilton had those qualities as did Alan Titchmarsh when he was at the shows helm. Sadly there has been no-one else since to match them. It is no longer that experience. A ship is only as good as its Captain, Gardeners World has not got a Captain and is sinking fast. I personally can no longer be doing with it. It's such a shame as there's precious little on the tele for both young and not so young aspiring gardeners as it is and now? well i won't make uncomfortable negative comments directed towards certain presenters, but i will say Carol Klein and young Chris Beardshaw are both watchable and inspiring and above all damned fine Gardeners.
  • Why Monty for heavens sake? I just cannot bear the thought of him on gardeners world. He does my head in, sorry but he does. There was nothing wrong with Toby. He was informative and inspiring. Not watching it anymore. If we can't have Toby can we not have Carol Klein or bring back Chris Beardshaw or Sarah Raven maybe? They all have such wonderful passion for gardening which shines through and above all they don't drone on lecture style. Won't be watching it anymore.
  • I belong to a gardening club and we are all appalled at the thought of Monty fronting gardeners world again.None of us will be watching it.He is not a proper gardener for heavens sake and it shows painfully. He is completely self orinetated and does not present well. Toby was a young Geoff Hamilton in the making,a proper gardener. It was shameful how he was dismissed.Shame on you bbc and what a waste of money re Greenacres.
  • Wow what a reaction to Montys return eh?BBC take notes as it's very clear that poor Monty is simply not wanted. He has never been taken to by the british viewing public and that's just the way it is. I personally choose not to watch him as i don't like his gardening style and presentation. I'm sure he's a really nice person etc but it's not about that is it? It's about do we want to WATCH him? Shame a vote cannot be conducted somehow, so that WE the viewers get who WE want to front our favourite much loved and only gardening programme. I'd vote for Carol Klein, after the obvious choice of Alan Titchmarsh.
  • Just stumbled across this blog and have to agree we the viewers should be able to vote for who we want for g.world.
Think Toby would prob get the job but reckon that Carol should have it as they don't get much more enthusiastic than her about gardening plus both herself and style are very watchable. Monty's not for me either.
  • First Toby
    Second Carol
    Third Chris Beardshaw

maybe these three together anyway? now that would be a good gardeners world as each has their own style and with a feature trip to Alys Fowlers garden each week, I'd deffo settle down to watch that mix. And an hour each week would be brill. So who do we the viewers want then?
  • What a mess!! What on earth has the bbc done now to my fave programme? it's on then its off, a new presenter who took time for us all to get used to then its off AGAIN and then to cap it all blooming Montys back!! aaaaagh

Carol and Toby should run the show for my money.
