A complete disappoontment to hear that Toby Buckland has been axed from Gardener's World. I daresay GW will now be completely unaccesabile unless you have a country pile and 50 acres.
Epic fail Gardener's World. You should think about attarcting the future gardener's of this world too. I thought the BBc was always looking for innovation and creativity in their programming. It appears they have regressed.
What an utter, utter shame to lose such an amiable, unassuming, REAL gardener who clearly loved what he was doing and wanted everyone to get involved.
I am very disappointed that Toby and Alys are no longer fronting Friday Night show - which now means I will be lectured by Monty on organic veg, veg, veg ... and veg. No longer looking forward to viewing. Thank You, Marion Sargeant.
very, very disappointed Toby is not to be with G.W anymore I think he did a good job.He has a lovely manner and passes on his KNOWLEDGE TO those of lesser knowledge . He should have been given time to get on with the job.I dont want to hear about veg, veg either or allotments non stop.thanks TOBY
The only good thing about bringing back monty dimwit is that I will save my magazine sub and not record GW. What a fool thing to do . Loved Toby and Alys . Bring them back you idiots.
Just read the news about Monty \don's return to Gardeners World.I feel like my broken hearts been mended. It was my great delight to come home from work on a Friday and sit down with a cup of tea to watch the programme I've loved for years. Sadly due to the changes I had completely stopped watching the programme. Well done BBC for showing some common sense at last.
I love gardening with a passion and so do Toby and Alys so why have the BBC foisted that dreadful halfwit back on the public?
Whoopie do he recovered from his stroke. Well so did my grandpa and he was 20 years older. It did not mean he should get his old job back just because he was lucky enough to get better. Just having good health is no real reason to have him back. He was rubbish before and will be again. Give us gardeners a proper grown up programe with Toby and Alys and leave Monty to do his own garden and not at our expense.I want to learn new stuff and not just go over and over old ground.
After reading a lot fo the comments. I would like to put a view from the real world. I have run a small nursery selling veg plants and perrenials at farmers markets. There are two camps of people the established and knowledgable gardeners and those who are really inspired to start. Our stall was as much about talking people through starting as trying to find unusual plants for enthusiasts. I think there should be two programmes at least, for the different skill levels and that would encompass more of the presenters to do what they do best.....1 programme a week for the world's greatest gardeners is a poor show from the BBC. Having seen the split in comments that is so uniform and knowing how this is true in the real world PLEASE PLEASE listen to us.
Hooray! Nothing against Toby, but it was the format that did for him. I stopped watching 2 years ago as a result. He'll be back on TV soon no doubt. And gardening from Ivington! Brilliant stuff. Have been a Monty fan since Fork to Fork. With allotment ownership going through the roof and these horribly austere times, Fridays nights, at least, are back to comforting normal. Nice one Beeb.
