Here's a few more apples chick - no idea of the variety -  got them a few months back as they were meant to be Bramleys but we're enjoying eating them now!

The other tree I got at the same time is definitely a different variety - apples are bigger and a different shape and colour.

...that apple of Fairygirl's looks like one I used to grow in my last garden called 'Spartan'... I grew it not only for it's flavour but because of that rich dark colour...it's self fertile and ripens at this time of year.... should be some in the shops soon... the flesh should be pure white...if not, then it's something else..image

Salino - I think you've got it! The flesh is very white and it is a lovely crisp apple. Sharp but fresh.  I hate those 'floury' grainy tasteless apples so I'm glad this one is so nice.

    Cheers! image

^...that's 'Spartan'....very nice too, isn't it?... right off the tree is best.... I find the shop ones don't taste as nice, having been left to hang around a bit...rather like Cox in that way, I find...

    ...now I want another one...image

My daughter has been picking them off each day on her way in from school! She loves a sour apple and used to eat the bits of  left over Bramleys when I did an apple pie!

Have a virtual one on me....image

We had very little of the St. Jude storm in my part of Bristol so the leaves were untouched on my self seeded acers which I "weeded" from the Botanic Garden.  They are all quite different and very lovely but the one I call "Rich toffee" is my favourite - the fi

Lovely colours - and all self seeders you say?  Great fun being able to name them yourself - I like Rich Toffee much better than all the Japanese names that mine seem to haveimage
