I will have a look at Gardeners Corner forum and see if I can register with the same or similar username (which is actually pretty much my real-life name/initials).
I would join a Whatsapp group (if invited) but not facebook (I started setting up an account once, but there were too many questions to which the answer is "none of your business" but that wasn't an option!).
Edit: Done - my username on Gardeners Corner is JennyJB. If anyone on there wants to try out sending PMs, feel free - I'll look back in sometime this evening.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Well, bummer. I haven't been able to find any really active US based forums, which is why I joined this one. Everyone has been very tolerant of me, and I appreciate that. I'm not a social media person, so back under my rock I go.
New England, USA
Metacomet soil with hints of Woodbridge and Pillsbury
I think I should be able to keep my G'sW name too - I doubt there's another fairygirl
That name came about as a joke though, so maybe I should choose something more sophisticated...just like myself....
There are people on this forum I'm in contact with by email, but there are many, many more that I only chat to on the forum, and I will miss you all dreadfully. I'm not going to say what I really think, although - why not eh? What's gonna happen? Would I get banned...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I, like many of us, are extremely sad to see the end of an active forum, but what grieves me more is the loss of the archived posts. These contain a vast amount of priceless gardening knowledge, advice and inspiration.
Is there any way we could lobby to keep the archive content available and ideally searchable via the main GW forum? Not too much to ask, surely?
That's a very good point. It would cost next to nothing to maintain the threads as a "view only" resource.
Well this sucks. Does this mean I will have to actually go outside and do some gardening?
The layout of this forum is good on the eye and easy to navigate and I just can't get enthusiastic about any site that looks messy, and a lot of them are certainly that. All good things come to an end, as the saying goes, so I hope everyone finds a new "home" that is to their liking.

‘View Only’ exactly!
Anyone got a direct line to KM that could ask for us? @Dovefromabove?
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I haven't been on here just recently as I am preparing to move, but logged on today to find some hydrangea pruning advice that the ever-kindly @Fairygirl gave me last year-- and saw this awful news. Very very upsetting. I think destroying all that knowledge base... everything from sweet pea advice to hellebore picture threads to lawn care... is desecration! And the beautiful rose threads... they aren't going to be here when I get my new roses (for surely this will be a lifelong passion with me now). All those gorgeous pictures, @pitter-patter's magical garden, all that advice and support. I'm gutted.
And I am not really one of the many many people who use this forum for its off-topic threads, the friendship and general support. This is going to uproot so many people from their online happy place. It's really disgusting to do this with so little notice. For shame.
