Anyone done any gardening today?

I had another furtle under an acer and my snowdrops are still there. Yeah! They are in bud and the clumps of 5's I planted a couple of years ago are increasing in number very satisfactorily. It has taken me so many attempts to find somewhere in my garden where they will grow, at last, my persistence has paid off.
Another clump of cyclamen flowers has appeared, a lovely rich pink.
Weather foul, dark, grey, mizzling, but mild so everything is growing ready to be killed off by the incoming cold snap.

Hello @Joyce Goldenlily, l have spotted a lone iris in one of my pots today. Certainly brightens a dull February day.
Just wondered, are you starting a new thread as a continuation from this one ?

My iris ret are beginning to bloom, really love the deep blue ones.

I pruned the pear and apple trees at last, a very tiring job one branch at a time with a long handled extension pruner. OH will have to finish off the branches I couldn't quite reach.

  • No, I had no intention of starting a new thread. It was just I have opened up the last few days and the original thread didn't come up. I was not sure why so just posted today to see what or who responded!
Primroses are opening all over the garden. My reticulated irises are just showing their noses in their pot. Buds showing on lots of shrubs must have a furtle to see if the perennials are beginning to move.

No worries @Joyce Goldenlily, l just got a bit confused 😁.
I have been out picking up leaves from the lawn and borders this morning , quite grey and breezy so that might be the extent of my gardening for today.
  • My apologies AnniD for the confusion.
I have just come home from walking the dog. It is grey, overcast, boring and the wind is getting up ready for the next belt of rain to come through later. No incentive to go back outside to do any gardening.
I can see a patch of white among the weeds which I think may be a Liatris? I may go out and check when I have finished my cup of coffee. The extent of my gardening for today. Ho Hum!

No chance it is freezing down here on the South coast. Just had to put the heater on again in the Summer house to protect my babies (seedlings).

Yep, out yesterday and today cutting back the shrubs/fruit trees. Mild enough for just t-shirt and shorts until a band of drizzle came through. Never sure if I'm doing these things at the right time - but they're all still alive so far.

Started clearing a path that the plants (as usual) were taking over. Stopped for coffee, went back and yes it rained. So the rest of the path will have to wait. Once inside I did pickle some beetroot that I had pulled up yesterday. Still doing well.
  • Finished weeding the vegetable patch and mulched with some garden compost. I'm feeling pleased with myself but my 3 month old new right hip isn't so sure!
