I'm getting mine through Eco4. No access to mains gas, oil heating and low household income are amongst the criteria
@Hostafan1 Low household income ( did you mention £31 k pa somewhere ?), no mains gas and oil heating - all 3 apply here. Is there a limit set on savings at all tho? That usually comes into it when applying for any assistance as far as I know so I'm wondering if this is the same. Sorry - I suppose I could try trawling thru but as you have already done all the hard work, I hope you don't mind me taking advantage of you
Can I ask if the properties are owned and what the properties are worth?
What's losing me is that there's a heck of a difference between someone who has an asset running into the hundred of thousands and someone renting who has no assets.
If the gov is handing out free solar to certain people - wouldn't you start with those most needy - ie no assets or total asset value < £x, rather than basing into income and savings? Or else doesn't it just add the gap between those who have those who don't - as the property value after the solar upgrade increases the owners assets doesn't it, as well as giving them access to cheaper energy?
Unfortunately you will never be able to state categorically what your house ( if you own it ) is worth until you come to sell. The average price for a certain area or an Estate Agent's guesstimate won't always give the true value. Social assistance /benefits are available to those who own a property in which they live provided they meet certain criteria - at least that is my understanding. I believe people renting a property are also offered assistance - again if they meet certain criteria. I'll add that I do not know what it takes in either circumstance to obtain useful help. As you know, there have been changes since the hike in energy prices - some people have received some much needed help on that front whilst others haven't. It remains to be seen whether that continues or not.
My understanding was a that if a property that has received grant-aided improvements is sold within a certain period of time, a proportion of that grant-aid has to be repaid.

Have I got that all wrong?
Same with heat pumps. If you can afford to top up the grant to buy one, you are not in "need". A cynic might say this is just the gov's way of keeping money where it is rather than helping everyone share in the country's wealth.
I've had loft insulation, I'm getting air source heat pump and solar panels and new radiators. Homeowners and tenants can apply. Nobody has asked how much I have in savings, nor how much my house is worth. I don't make the rules, but I'm taking whatever I can get. @philippasmith2, google Eco 4 grants, there's tons of companies doing it.
For goodness sake … most folk have enough common sense to know how to behave … you can be in a village pub and get into one of those conversations putting the world to rights … you might say something that’s a bit near the knuckle or upsets someone and they complain to the landlord/lady who says to you ‘Oi, that’s enough … change the subject or leave’ .
In other words - 'don't be a dick'. This is the fundamental rule of all social spaces, a necessary way for getting along with others, a form of basic courtsey. Getting along with others is important. We learn this in nursery school. If you are lonely and bored and want to fight and tussle and row, this is not the place to do it.
