It does look nice and relaxing your garden @Plantminded lots of green and subtle colour here and there. The bright colour of loads of flowers ( bit like my garden I like brash colour ) can be a bit in your face at certain times of the year.
How do you go on with the Allium Millennium @Marlorena ? Does the foliage go after flowering for example , it one of the few alliums I've not grown but I've been eying it up. Looks good with the Crocosmia.
I grow Phlox Monica L Bell its probably my favourite scent of the phlox I grow , flowers earlier as well , was a good year for phlox last year with it being so wet White Admiral had a field day I have a nice picture of it with Mary rose .
@Perki ... my old favourite Phlox 'White Admiral'.. I've not had that in a long time though, as I now have other whites.. I used to cut bunches of it for the vase.. I also grew 'Mary Rose' as a Standard - lovely combination..
As for Allium 'Millennium'.. I think this is the Allium by which others are judged, the flower heads turn gritty grey in late Sept/October and the foliage turns yellow, then buff with a dried look. I divided mine at that time.. They're already poking through the soil..
..this is from late October..
You might like to consider Allium 'Serendipity'.. it's a 'sport' of 'Millenium', and I've heard it said that it's slightly better, the heads are a little bigger but more pink..
Aster 'Wunder von Stafa'.. very similar to 'Monch' but the flower colour is less uniform, and it can flop a bit, otherwise difficult to tell apart. I understand they are confused in commerce so one may get either.. sometimes I prefer this one.. Hemerocallis 'Mood Elevator'.. a repeat flowering Daylily.. .. first flush from 25th June - 5th August.. ..the a month gap, before producing another scape around 9th September.. Allium 'Mt. Everest'.. spring flowering from bulbs, huge grey leaves that soon disintegrate.. loved by bees.. strong onion-y smell.. Iris 'Benton Storrington'.. one of the famous Benton's, shown at Chelsea last year.. grows quite tall so needs more shelter from wind.. snails decimate these unfortunately. Lavender 'Ashdown Forest', short season but a nice bright colour on this.. Phlox 'Sweet Summer Lilac'.. I think my favourite colour from the ones I have.. very long flowering into October.. Spigelia marilandica .. Indian Pinks.. a bright splash of red for midsummer, quite unusual and not seen that often I think.. Clematis 'Margaret Hunt'.. this never let's me down, growing in gravel and seems to enjoy full sun..
I'm just doing a separate post for another plant, to follow..
I can't be without this superlative grass.. I have it around my small pond and let it weave through the area.. deciduous, it starts to colour up from late May..
Imperata cylindrica 'rubra' or 'Red Baron'..
I love these spiky red tips.. ..by late July it's quite red.. but with just the right amount of green..
..with the real Geranium 'Johnson's Blue'.. ..by late summer with Salvia 'Blue Merced'..
I’ve only ever seen Imperata rubra in its early stage and I can now appreciate how the colour stands out as it develops and why you like it @Marlorena! Another one for the list!
