Oh  dear, more beautiful goodies, I fear for my bank balance @Marlorena!

  • I am really enjoying looking at your lovely photos. Not only is it is giving me a few plants for my wish list but what I am finding most useful is seeing the planting combinations in real life, great to see different colours/sizes etc together. Very inspiring and thought provoking and has given me a few ideas to try.
    thankyou.

What is the Bistorta/Persicaria in your last photo @Marlorena please?  I'm looking for a variety that doesn't mind sandy soil once established.

Hiya.. that would be Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Inverleith'.. it's a more compact form.  That's a group of 3 together there..  I think I got it from Ballyrobert, I'm not sure, but the flowers are the usual pink, like 'Firetail'....

Hope everyone has survived last night's dreadful weather.. I had to search for my bins this morning..

That's very helpful, thank you @Marlorena.  I'll be spending this afternoon retrieving all the dry Miscanthus strands that are now littering my lawn and borders. Only the Calamagrostis varieties seem really wind resistant at this late stage!

I don't grow Calamagrostis 'Karl Foerster' but I did like Calamagrostis brachytricha for many years, especially for flower arranging, they last a long time in a vase, almost indefinitely.

Another I liked was Molinia 'Karl Foerster', which is a graceful, airy and wavy plant.  Not sure I still have a photo, looks wonderful in a large pot, as my conditions proved a bit too dry in the garden for this.
