I've grown quite a few varieties @greatnorthernexotic but have reduced them now to the green leaved varieties. The variegated, rainbow and dark leaved ones don't look that good over winter and I don't like the flowers!
@Plantminded Agreed, I grew euphorbia ascot rainbow which I never particularly liked. I put euphorbia amygdaloides purpurea in my shady border last year as I liked the purple leaves but it didn't do fantastically well. Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii is of course every reliable.
I also grow euphorbia schillingii which grows huge for me - 1.6m at least before dying back the ground. I also put in euphorbia mellifera to add some height and winter interest, plus I heard it smells amazing.

Corydalis solida "Purple Bird" always seems to pop up very suddenly, and in new places each year.
