Interesting see cannas featured as potential pond plants on RHS Chelsea 23. I (by chance) put them in the pond last year and it worked really well. I saw Monty suggesting this on GW one year. I lift the pots in the autumn and will put them back in pond after the frost. The foliage is wonderful.
Yes, just ordinary cannas, planted in aquatic baskets. They put on large root systems, I guess to try and gain nutrients. It will be interesting to see if the red ones have survived the frost in pots (I didn't fleece them) and if they will flower this year. The green and yellow ones I grow (centre pic) seem to have no problem with cold and come back strongly every year in pots. (London)
We seem to be a couple of weeks behind where we usually are, but there are subtle signs of waking up all round the garden. Lots of leaf buds and green tips poking up from the ground, a few flowers here and there to brighten things up.
Camellia japonica 'Governor Mouton'
Daphne odora. Unsure of variety. Most of the ones I've seen have pink flowers, but these are pure white.
It’s been a mild day here, so I’ve been trying to finish pruning the roses - there are still a few left, mainly in the front garden. Lovely to see bees and ladybirds again.

Chrysosplenum, a nice plant for boggy conditions, will look better when a few more flowers are out.
