I chucked out some plastic containers from the kitchen, mostly the kind that something came in and I kept "because they might come in handy". A few tupperware types that are looking a bit discoloured but still have lids that fit are earmarked for the shed to decant open boxes of bone meal and suchlike into.

How come I have twice as many lids as bases? Odd sock syndrome? Cured that one by only buying plain black socks.

My missing lids must've moved to your place @B3.

Well, I have a huge surplus of lids, but the useful bottom parts are missing 😔 Time to throw away the whole lot and buy some new Tupperware.

I have spent an hour decluttering the paperwork today; blue bin collection is on Tuesday. 😀 Hope to declutter some more before Christmas.

Just mentioning, if you have any Christmas decorations that you can bring yourself to "get rid of" and they are in good condition, charity shops are usually happy to  take them at this time of year. My local shops have just said as much.
Alternatively, for fake Christmas trees etc there's always Freecycle etc.

Today I've de-cluttered the hall coat cupboard, ditched 2 old umbrellas, 2 pairs of boots and some shoes. Found our plastic box full of old shoe polishes, dusters, and waxes etc - unused for years! Does anybody ever polish shoes any more? We keep a neutral spray polish for a quick shine up before dashing out of the door. and that's about it.

    Looks a lot tidier now.

I keep thinking I should try to declutter, but not managing large amounts, just the odd few things here and there. Having this thread around is motivating though.

I’m finding this thread very inspirational, although the actions aren’t keeping up with the intentions, as yet! I’m planning a mix of planning for downsizing and Swedish death cleaning! Not much progress so far. I must say that my house paperwork filing is exemplary though. I do like to have stuff on paper, but I regularly go through each file, and dispose of anything more than three years old. When we dump any electrical item, I extract the instruction book from the relevant file, and dispose of it.
On the negative side, I recently bought two packs of new knickers, but struggled to get them into my underwear drawer, as it’s so full. Time for a good clear out.

We had loads of boxes, with lids missing, or split. It always has been that way. I insisted on keeping the boxes, against my wife's recommendation.
She has since found such Tupperware boxes to be so useful, and recognises my forward thinking.
But, now we are moving, the boxes are in the bin. If we need boxes, we'll buy new ones.
